Axelrod on Obama's handling of LIbya

I'm going to share several excerpts: RUSH: Chris Wallace grilled Axelrod on Libya and Romney on Fox News Sunday yesterday. Chris Wallace said, "The president made a statement, and he went off to a fundraiser, or to a campaign stop in Nevada. Now, before he went to the fundraiser in Nevada, did he meet with his National Security Council, try to sort out these shifting stories? Because the State Department said they never said it was a spontaneous demonstration, never said it was a video. Never said that. Never said they had that kind of intel. Did he meet with the National Security Council before he went campaigning in Nevada?"

AXELROD: I assure you that the president was in contact with all those who had information and responsibility in the national security chain about this incident. Again, let me stress, there isn't anyone on this planet who feels a greater sense of responsibility for our diplomats, for our service people, who takes this more personally than the president of the United States.

RUSH: That's just not believable. That's the problem. That's just not believable. Nobody takes it more seriously than Obama? Blaming a video for it. Then claiming that nobody told him that there was a request for more security. He went out and lied for a week. He sent Susan Rice out to lie for a week. He sent everybody in this administration out to lie for a week. He lied to the UN about this incident, claiming it was a video, knowing all along that it was a terror attack by Al-Qaeda. But he couldn't allow that, because he had slain Al-Qaeda. The moment he took out Osama Bin Laden, he took out Al-Qaeda at the same time. That was the point. There isn't any more Al-Qaeda, except Al-Qaeda just killed our ambassador. So what does Obama do? He exonerates terrorism.

It was a terror attack. Instead, Obama wants to give them a pass and try to blame it on the guy with the video and sends everybody else out to do so and here's Axelrod, "Nobody takes it more seriously." He didn't even answer the three a.m. call. So Chris Wallace says, "Do you really believe, Mr. Axelrod, do you really believe that the concern over Libya is just politics that has been ginned up by the Romney campaign?"

AXELROD: I refer you back to the famous 47% tape in the spring where Governor Romney told in private, told his supporters that he was waiting for a crisis, waiting for an incident to jump in on national security, and he did. He jumped in right away, the day of these attacks with half information in a way that was denounced by both Republicans and Democrats, and there's no doubt that he's working hard to exploit this issue. I would point to the fact that this morning in Bloomberg News, Chris Stevens' dad said that he regretted that people were trying to exploit this issue.

RUSH: So Wallace here has had enough. This is the first US ambassador killed since 1979. Susan Rice came on this show and five others and gave the American people a story that turned out not to be true, and you are saying we shouldn't discuss this, that we should wait for the investigation to be completed.

AXELROD: No, no.

WALLACE: That's what you just said. AXELROD: That's obviously -- Chris, calm down. That's obviously not what I'm saying.

WALLACE: You just said we should follow the lead of Chris Stevens's father.

AXELROD: I'm -- I'm -- I'm happy to discuss it with you, and I do think that it's worthy of discussion. I think that's different than the manner in which Governor Romney has conducted himself. And it's not just me who attacked him for the way he handled this. He was roundly criticized by people from right to left, the Republican establishment and the Democratic establishment.

WALLACE: You're talking about what he said the day after the attack. I don't think anybody is criticizing him for what he's saying now except the Obama campaign.

AXELROD: I'm just telling you that from the beginning, before any facts were known, he was, uh, cravenly trying to exploit it.

RUSH: We had the facts! We had the ambassador dead in a terror attack, and it's been confirmed what Romney was talking about at the time had indeed happened. This is pathetic. This is really pathetic, and here come these straw men again. Who are these mythical Republicans that ripped into Romney? Who are they? Yeah, a couple of columnists. One from the Wall Street Journal, one from the Weekly Standard, that's who it is? Yeah, it was one. It was Peggy Noonan! It was Peggy Noonan who said he shot before he aimed or whatever the hell. He spoke up too soon. (impression) "We need fewer words." That was it! It wasn't Republicans all over the place.

This is just pathetic. It's absolutely pathetic.

And all this while Obama is out fundraising in Nevada.

He's with Jay-Z.

He's appearing on Letterman.

RUSH: I can't find it. I've got a story somewhere that the Obama campaign spent a whole bunch of money building charging stations for Chevrolet Volts at one of our embassies somewhere. Now, the reason that's important is they're running around saying they didn't have the money for security because the Republicans cut the budget. "No, we didn't have the money for additional security Benghazi. That's the Republicans' fault."

Meanwhile, they're spending money for charging stations for Chevrolet Volts in Austria. It was in Austria. They're spending money on Chevrolet Volt charging stations in Austria because there is no more Al-Qaeda. Well, Darrell Issa... This is the Politico right, now. Darrell Issa "says the State Department is sitting on $2.2 billion that should be spent on upgrading security at US embassies and consulates worldwide, but the Obama [regime] will not spend the funds.

"Issa made his comment during an appearance on CBS's Face the Nation..." He said that they have $2.2 billion and they won't spent the money. They spent it on charging stations for Volts in Austria. They're really blaming the Republican budget for these attacks on Benghazi, the consulate there, 'cause the Republicans wouldn't authorize any money? There's not one thing coming out of this man's mouth that is anywhere near the truth.
