Mark Steyn's Stack of Stuff

Sorry for the delay in posting this today - I've been watching opening day baseball!

I don't include the links.

Author and cultural commentator Mark Steyn filled in for Rush on Thursday's program. Rush will be back on Monday.

• Reuters: White House: Libyan Defection a "Significant Blow"
• Guardian: Moussa Koussa's Defection Should be Exploited

"The problem with the United States, in a nutshell, is that we still think it's 1950. The Second World War has just ended, we got more money than we know what to do with, and we can afford to pay for other countries to fight wars." -Steyn

• WSJ: Mission: Inscrutable
• NRO: The Triumph of the Green Eyeshade
• WS: Reagan Versus Obama on Jobs

"'Federally funded cowboy poetry.' That phrase has never existed in any language in the entire course of human history. That's an innovation of our time and the fact that that combination of words can be used with all seriousness by the Senate majority leader of the world’s superpower is an indication of the depths we're in." -Steyn

• BW: CAGW Names Senator Harry Reid Porker of the Month
• MSNBC: All Hat and No Cattle? Cowboy Poetry Event Boss Talks Funding

"You don't need federal funds to write cowboy poetry. You just need the back of an envelope." - Steyn

• HS: Face of Jesus Christ Appears in Three-Cheese Pizza

"How would you like to be in a situation where 20% of your income is just going towards the interest on your credit card? That's the situation the United States is in. The United States will be spending more on debt interest than on the cost of its military." - Steyn

Incompetence Rules Again

A few months ago, Rush shared a story about a couple of researchers who were close to a cure for cancer. They had all their data on a laptop computer - which they had never backed up.

And someone stole their laptop.

How stupid is that? To not back up your data, onto multiple backup sources, and then to carry the laptop around in a car and leave that car somewhere where theives abounded?

Now apparently the same thing has happened to BP. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Frightening to think of such stupidity loose in the world.
Story #2: BP Loses Laptop Containing Oil Spill Claimants Data

RUSH: I saw this next story. I keep running into stories like this, and I was flummoxed. "BP Loses Laptop Containing Thousands of Oil Spill Victims' Personal Information -- As if BP's reputation on the Gulf Coast couldn't get any worse, the company is now scrambling to address the disappearance of a laptop containing thousands of names of victims from the last year's massive oil spill. The company announced [yesterday] that an employee lost the laptop, containing 13,000 names and the personal information of individuals who made claims related to the Deepwater Horizon accident last April.

"The password-protected laptop," which will not be a challenge to a thief, "contained an expansive list that contained Social Security numbers, phone numbers and address of the individuals." Thirteen thousand people! What are you thinking right now, Snerdley? What are you...? (laughing) You're thinking LifeLock! There are 13,000 people, their Social Security names now in the hands of somebody who has this laptop. Oh, my gosh. I can't begin... I'm glad my name's not on that laptop. Of course I don't care, 'cause I'm a member of LifeLock, and my Social Security number is protected.

Rush Taking Thursday and Friday Off

Rush will be gone Thursday and Friday, Mark Steyn will be sitting in for him.

Not sure what Rush is doing - playing golf, I think.

Possibly in Hawaii.
Story #1: El Rushbo Will Surrender to Honolulu City Council

RUSH: We're gonna do Open Line Friday on Wednesday today. I will be out the next two days, ladies and gentlemen. It's simply unavoidable. You may recall that the city council of Honolulu, Hawaii, officially condemned me over what they said was making fun of the ChiCom Premiere Hu Jintao and the ChiCom language. And they issued an official proclamation denouncing me, criticizing me, throwing me overboard, demanding that I apologize and so forth. So I am going to go to Honolulu and surrender to the Honolulu City Council. I'm gonna tackle this head on, right after my tee time at noon. In the meantime, Mark Steyn will be here. I expect to be released in time to return to the Golden EIB Microphone here by next Monday.

Sounbytes from the Mainstream Media - "The Obama Doctrine"

We're already fighting two non-winnable wars in the Middle East, Libya is the third, and it's going to take a whole year before we're out of there. We're already bankrupt, we need to cut our budget in a myriad of ways, and yet Obama has no problem committing our forces to Libya (but not of course to prevent genocide in Darfur, the Sudan, any number of other places).

Only in Libya, where, unlike Egypt, it seems a majority of the folks, in particular their military, are quite content with the status quo.
RUSH: Let's go back to the audio sound bites. We're gonna pick up here at number seven. We have a media montage. The media twisting themselves into pretzels to try to see the Obama Doctrine in this Libyan mess. Now, remember, you know what the Obama Doctrine is. It's three words: 2012 or bust.

BLITZER: The clearest form of what we can call the Obama Doctrine, when to deploy US military forces around the world.

GERGEN: The emerging Obama Doctrine. Unless we are directly threatened, he's only going to use force in extremely limited circumstances.

HENRY: Laying out an Obama Doctrine, when he said, "I refuse to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves."

SPITZER: There is the beginning of a doctrine about how President Obama views the use of force.

KUCINICH: This is a new Obama Doctrine, which is that you act on threats.

ENGEL: Talked about a new doctrine of preemptive war, going to war when the President of the United States doesn't feel it is morally right not to go to war.

MORGAN: It's an unusual doctrine

RUSH: That was Piers Morgan at CNN. It's an unusual doctrine. Well, everybody's got their own theory as to what the doctrine is. I would have been embarrassed to say half of those, what I thought the doctrine is. I mean, "The emerging doctrine, unless we're directly threatened. We're only gonna use force in limited circumstances." That's a doctrine? "There's a beginning of a doctrine about how Obama views the use of force." That's a doctrine? "You act on threats." That's what Dennis Kucinich said the Obama doctrine is, you act on threats. Last night on CNN Piers Morgan spoke with Rudy Giuliani. Question: "What happens if, as we're seeing now in Syria, for example, you're seeing the leadership there killing large numbers of people, ever increasing numbers of people, same kind of argument. You know there's a humanitarian situation in Syria, likely to be one in Yemen, both probably more dangerous places than Libya as far as the security of America than Libya. What do we do?"

GIULIANI: To say that he has a policy, even like an Obama Doctrine, is really just a fawning on Obama. There's no doctrine in this. Here's the doctrine, if France wants us to do it, if the UN wants us to do it, if the Arab League wants us to do it, then we'll do it, that's the Obama Doctrine.

RUSH: Rudy's close. The Obama Doctrine is it's the UN. Our sovereignty, we're waving it good-bye. Obama didn't go to Congress. He went to the UN. He appoints NATO. Citizen of the world. James Carville, last night, CNN, The Situation Room. Wolf Blitzer: "So, you think the president made a mistake by doing this?"

CARVILLE: You know, there was always a good reason to go in Iraq. There was a good reason to go in Afghanistan. There's a good reason to go in Pakistan. There was a good reason to go in Libya. There'll be a good reason to go in Bahrain. There'll be a good reason to start a war anywhere. And, you know, I don't know, but we're a little tuckered out here. I don't know if he made a mistake. You know, the secretary of state and other people really were urging him it was a humanitarian crisis. I hope that it turns out to be the right decision.

RUSH: That's James Carville speaking from a barrel toss in New Orleans. The partying continues in the French Quarter. Ed Henry last night, The Situation Room, CNN, Wolf Blitzer said, "Set the scene for us. Give us a little bit of the flavor of what's going on there in the Oval Office here. Obama is getting ready to make history."

HENRY: A lot of people expect that an address about military action tends to be in the Oval Office. In private administration officials acknowledge the president didn't want an Oval Office address because he did not want to raise the stakes any more or raise the level of this and compare it to Iraq, Afghanistan, because his point tonight is that this is a much more limited engagement than either one of those conflicts.

RUSH: Ed Henry on the case. Did anybody understand what he said? You got it? More comfortable standing alone, godlike reverb. Donald Trump was on CNN last night. Every sound bite here is from CNN. Well, partly because MSNBC, I've said no more, no more sound bites from MSNBC primetime. So we gotta go somewhere. Trump was on with Piers Morgan. Question: "When you hear Obama say that he wants to get rid of Khadafy but he doesn't want regime change, does that make sense to you?"

TRUMP: It makes no sense whatsoever. What he said just makes absolutely no sense, and at this point if you don't get rid of Khadafy, it's a major, major black eye for this country, but you also have to ask the other question, who's paying for this? You have Saudi Arabia, the Arab League, the richest nations in the world saying, "Go in and get him. We don't like him. Go in and get him." And why aren't they paying for this?

RUSH: (laughing) I get the impression Trump doesn't like paying for much. He's got a good point here, everybody is saying, "You go get 'm, you go get 'm, you go get 'm, you go get 'm." Okay, how much you gonna pay us? Makes perfect sense to me, too.

When Are We Going to Take Out Hugo Chavez?

Uf you read up on Hugo Chavez, he's just as big a strong-arm man as Khadafy. He's also bankrupting his own country.

Now - he's also giving his country good advice - I don't care for alcholics, breast implants, or violent TV, myself.

But I'd think he'd have bigger problems than that to worry about in his country.
Story #2: Chavez Orders Venezuelans to Cut Calorie Intake

RUSH: In Venezuela, "Hugo Chavez has urged Venezuelans to cut their calories to avoid obesity – the latest lifestyle recommendation by the self-proclaimed socialist crusader. The president has lobbied in recent weeks against what he calls the evils of capitalism, including alcoholism, breast implants and violent television programmes." I was gonna say, has he looked in the mirror? "'Be careful with weight gain,' he warned during his weekly television and radio programme. 'We are eating better, that's been proven. We're leaving malnutrition behind. It no longer exists in the country, but be careful with obesity.'"

There's somebody else on a crusade like this. I'm having a mental block. Help me out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right, Moochelle Obama. How did I forget? Moochelle Obama is telling Americans that we are eating too many calories. You know, Hugo, you better stop and think about something, bud. You are becoming almost as controlling as Moochelle Obama is. I knew this sounded familiar. I knew some authoritarian leadership figure was telling us that we're eating too much. I just couldn't remember where. I couldn't place it.

Obama Undermining American Soverignty

Sonia Sotomayor was asked, in her Supreme Court confirmation hearings, if she'd consult legal precedent from other countries, and allow that to inform her rulings on American jurisprudence.

There was a reason she was asked that question. A lot of judges - liberal activist judges - are basing their decisions on what is happening in other countries - and frankly we don't want what is happeing in other countries to happen here!

There was the case, albeit many years ago, of a man who'd put a help-wanted sign in the window. He needed someone to stock his shelves. A pregnant woman came in and applied, and he turned her down because she was pregnant. He didn't want her over-exerting herself and giving birth right there in his stockroom! Made sense to me, but she sued on grounds she'd been discriminated against, won in the "Euro Court", and he had to pay her lost wages. Stupid.

Now it seems Obama didn't ask Congress for permission to attack Libya - all he wanted was permission from the UN.
RUSH: All right, it's all shaping up now, folks. New York Times: "Allied Leaders Agree Khadafy Must Be Removed." So wait nine days, get the lay of the land, give the speech last night, then everybody goes out today and says, "Yep, Khadafy's gonna go. Khadafy's gotta go." The path to the White House in 2012 goes through Tripoli, Libya. Obama has staked his reelection here, a large part of it, on "Khadafy has to go. Khadafy will go." I'm just, again, warning you that you're gonna get depressed as hell when you see the media treatment of this when it happens. I don't want you to get depressed.

I want you to understand what's happening, and that's why I'm telling you. Now, Obama is setting in place a new precedent all of a sudden, respecting our foreign policy and our military. And I don't mean he respects them. He's setting a new place, new terms, if you will: All roads first go through the UN. That's another reason to wait nine days. All roads go through the UN, NATO, what have you. Look for more of this. And then you turn the operations over to another coalition. What Obama is doing here is multitasking. He is undoing our sovereignty while at the same time setting up the table to take personal credit for the eventual overthrow of Khadafy.

Never forget -- never forget, folks -- Barack Obama has always held himself out as a global citizen, bigger than the mere boundaries of our own country. All this stuff about American exceptionalism? That's no different than all the BS that he talked about free markets in the campaign while simultaneously spreading socialism here. So while he's talking about American exceptionalism, he is empowering the United Nations. It's the United Nations and NATO and all these other organizations. Have you noticed Mrs. Clinton's language? "We're not... We're not... We're not... We're not arming the rebels. We are not getting rid of Khadafy. We're not... We're not... We're not..." meaning the United States.

"They are... They are... They are..." the UN. Not us. Notice Obama got his moral sanction from the United Nations, not the United States Congress. Obama did not go to the Congress on this operation -- on purpose. He went to the UN. He side-stepped Congress. This is Obama seeking his dream, to not be held prisoner by the boundaries of this country. He's a citizen of the world. He is undoing our sovereignty right in front of our eyes here. That's what this all adds up to, at least to me. That is my take. That's what's happening. That's how I explain Obama not going to Congress but going to the UN and empowering NATO.

Now, some of you might say, "Well, but we are NATO." Well, we are and we aren't. By name, we're not. When it's all over, guess who's gonna get the credit for this? Obama personally, individually; and the United Nations as the body that does it, not the United States. Congress? "Hey, how are you guys doing over there? How are your budget cuts going?" Obama's asking. "I got bigger things in my mind than your stupid little budget over there. I'm remaking the world. Oh, you're worried about $6 billion in cuts there or $10 billion? Fine, you guys keep arguing about that. I got bigger things to do. I gotta get rid of Khadafy and I gotta transform this world and this country." That's what he's doing.

Why are we Offering Humanitarian aid to Libya?

When we couldn'be be bothered to help in China (Tienamen Square, albeit a long time ago), Darfur, the Congo, the Sudan...everywhere that's got no oil, we're not doing a lot to help...

Rush shared some soundbytes from Obama at Youtube:
RUSH: Saturday, White House YouTube Channel, President Obama: Libya mission is succeeding.

OBAMA: We're succeeding in our mission. We've taken out Libya's air defenses. Khadafy's forces are no longer advancing across Libya.

RUSH: Wrong.

OBAMA: In places like Benghazi, a city of some 700,000 that Khadafy threatened to show "no mercy," his forces have been pushed back. So make no mistake: Because we acted quickly, a humanitarian catastrophe has been avoided, and the lives of countless civilians -- innocent men, women, and children -- have been saved.

RUSH: This just adds to the confusion of what this is all about. Khadafy's still there. This is really hard. We're dealing with somebody who's not ground in reality on this in any way, shape, manner, or form. This is... My gosh, folks, it's embarrassing. It's worse than embarrassing. Also Saturday, White House YouTube Channel.

OBAMA: When someone like Khadafy threatens a bloodbath that could destabilize an entire region and when the international community is prepared to come together to save many thousands of lives, then it's in our national interests to act, and it's our responsibility. This is one of those times.

RUSH: Khadafy threatens a bloodbath. Well, here we go. And a lot of other people now are picking up this refrain that we offered last week: "Well, there's a lot of bloodbaths around the world. Darfur. North Korea. Syria. Why aren't we there?" It was fascinating on Meet the Press yesterday. The audio is coming up here, but this was a stunning power play. On Meet the Press yesterday, after Defense Secretary Robert Gates conceded that Libya is not a vital interest of the United States... Stop and think of that. He conceded, the Secretary of Defense, that the action in Libya is not rooted in a vital national interest of ours. Before he could complete his comments, Mrs. Clinton cut him off, and she launched into a minute-and-40-second monologue seeking to justify US military involvement in Libya.

Then he points out the number of European countries that have energy interests in Libya, and that's why we're there, to help out Europe.
RUSH: Here is why we're in Libya. There's the chart. This chart shows every energy and oil installation in Libya, offshore and on, every one of them is a European owned entity. You got BP, you've got ExxonMobil. This chart is from STRATFOR, Stratfor.com. We will put this at RushLimbaugh.com. Sarkozy and Cameron today have come out and are urging Libyans to oppose Khadafy. This is no more a humanitarian mission than a mission to save the animals and the pets of Libya. This is about European energy, pure and simple, and who was there first? Who didn't wait for us? The Europeans. We were stragglers, were we not? We were the last there. There are no vital US interests, we're told. Gates says, "No vital US interests." That's not true and Mrs. Clinton interrupts him and goes on a minute and 40 second monologue on Meet the Press yesterday to suggest that there might be some vital US interests. Well, that's a pretty big chunk of that country, particularly on the northeastern coast of this country that's got a lot of energy installations. Now, in the lower-left hand corner as you're looking at it, the lower-left hand corner lists by color-code every country that owns one of those installations.

I wonder if the European countries will reimburse us for the effort we're making on their behalf?

Bill Ayers's joke about Dreams of my Father

Bill Ayers should be in jail, along with Charlie Sheen. They way these people are allowed to corrupt the mind of the masses - Ayers as a university professor and Sheen as an actor who has clearly lost his mind - it's just sad.

Rush didn't seem to get what Ayers was aiming at here, though.

He's really denying that he wrote Obama's book, making a joke out of it. "If you can prove I did it, I'll split the royalties with you." He's not tweaking Obama, he's tweaking the people who keep saying that he wrote Obama's book.
An unidentified student at Mr. Ayers' appearance, "What is your opinion of Barack Obama's style as a writer?"

AYERS: The first book is very good. The second book is a more of a political hack book. But the first book is quite good.

STUDENT: Right. Also just, you mentioned about the Pentagon and how all... (crosstalk)

AYERS: Did you know that I wrote it, incidentally?

STUDENT: What's that?

AYERS: I wrote that, Dreams from My Father.

STUDENT: Yeah we know.

STUDENT: You wrote that?

AYERS: Yeah, and if you could help me prove it I'll split the royalties with you. (laughter)

But at one least student actually believed it, if the transcript is to be believed!

Booklist: Red State Uprising, by Erick Erickson and Lewis Uhler

Red State Uprising: How To Take Back America, by Erick Erickson and Lewis Uhler
REgnery Publishing, 2010
196 pages plus acknowledgments, notes and index
Library: 320.52 ERI

Description
Want a real Conservative rewvoltion? Here's how.

Few conservatives are more influential than Erick Erickson, the man who sets the course for the Right as the editor of REdState.com. Even fewer are as knowledgeable about the Constitutional limits of government as Lewis K. Uhler, who has fought rampant government growth and high taxes for decades.

In this moment of crisis-with big government threatening fundamental American freedoms-Erickson and Uhler have written an essential how-to guide for cleaning up the GOP, slashing government, reclaiming lost ground, and getting America back on course.

Red State Uprising reveals:
-Why your Republican candidate may not be a real conservative-and how you can tell the difference
-How to make the Republican Party a truly conservative party (Red State activists are doing it now).
-How to shrink government using practical solutions that could be implemented TODAY
-Obama's contempt for your America, and who he has hired to radically reshape our nation
-Why today we have a unique opportunity to reduce fgovernment to the right size.

A rousing call for Americans to take back our government, Red State Uprising not only sounds the alarm about our freedoms in jeopardy-it shows us how to secure then now and in the future.

America Doesn't Matter Anymore

Our opinions may not matter to the rest of the world anymore - but they sure do want our money. But can you blame them for taking our money - when we give it to them despite the fact that none of the recipients back us in the United Nations, all of them condemn our greed, and in any event most of the money we give ends up in the hands of the ruling regime who use it to buy mansions and gold-plated cars...
RUSH: Peter Beinart: "America Doesn't Matter Anymore." By the way, just to give you more details on who he is. He's a senior political writer for the Daily Beast, associate professor of journalism and political science at the City University of New York, senior fellow at the New America Foundation. He first rose to national acclaim being an editor at New Republic, and he's had a couple of books, and of course you can follow him on Twitter and Facebook. And of course he's a leftist. "America Doesn't Matter Anymore," is the title of his piece. "As Europe takes the lead on the Libyan intervention, it's a powerful signal of America's weakening global influence. Peter Beinart on Obama's Jeffersonian turn -- and the end of an empire." And they're happy about this, even calling it Jeffersonian.

"In the summer of 1995, when the Clinton administration -- after more than two years of deference -- forced the Europeans into a humanitarian war against the Serbs, then-Lieutenant General Wesley Clark exulted 'The big dog barked today.' Back then, the big dog was not fighting any other wars. It was unchallenged in East Asia; its economy was beginning to boom and its fiscal problems were melting away. And even then, Americans only supported the Bosnia war, and its kid brother Kosovo, on the condition that no Americans died. Today, by contrast, America’s fiscal condition is terrifying and the Pentagon is fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, trying to stay out of one with Iran, and keeping one eye on a rising China. I don’t know what it took to convince an obviously reluctant Robert Gates to permit American involvement in the Libyan no-fly zone, but it’s a reasonable bet that had Barack Obama not been able to promise that it would be a mostly European affair, Gates would now be a military analyst on Fox News." Meaning Gates wanted to do it. Obama didn't want to do it. Gates would have been canned, and so forth and so on.

Once again here, somebody is saying, it's Gates' idea; it's not Obama's.

"The American public’s appetite for humanitarian war has always been meager. And now the American government’s capacity for waging it is meager, too. … Whether they’ll be able to -- whether they have the capacity and stomach for what it would take to push Gaddafi from power -- is another question. But it’s not surprising that Barack Obama is giving them a chance to try," meaning the Europeans. "Obama is what you might call a roundabout Jeffersonian. Jeffersonians, to borrow Walter Russell Mead’s phrase, believe that preserving America’s economic and political solvency requires reining in American empire." Mr. Beinart, do you actually believe that is what this is about? Do you actually believe that Obama's reluctance to get involved here is to save our economy? Where do these people live? Intellectually, where do they live to come up with this idea that Obama's reluctance is to save our economy? It's an economy that he has under assault. Obama's boys read this, "America Doesn't Matter Anymore, the end of an empire," that's victory for them.

Thomas Jefferson fought the Barbary wars. Thomas Jefferson was the first American president to recognize the dangers posed by militant Islam, for crying out loud. And to call Obama Jeffersonian on the basis that he realizes we can't do all this foreign policy stuff 'cause we don't have the money. Why don't we have the money? Who is it that's bankrupted us, or has played a large role in it? "So Obama is trying to do it on the sly, to reduce the costs of American foreign policy without reining in our ambition. … Will it work? Beats me. But it’s an illusion to believe we could have done this the old way. One of the crucial questions of our age is whether America’s liberal ideals can flourish despite the decline of American power. Libya will be one of the places we find out." America doesn't matter anymore. We can't do this. We had to pass this off to Libya. We can't afford it. Obama knows it. We don't have the power we used to have. Our economy has just bankrupted us and so forth. I swear, these people, the smartest people in the room.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The Barbary wars, Thomas Jefferson. The Barbary wars were fought because Jefferson would not go along with the European powers and just pay tribute to the pirates in Tripoli. I mean for Beinart to sit here and compare this to Jeffersonianism, I guess somewhere we're gonna find that Thomas Jefferson wanted to tax the mileage of your horse and buggy, and then somewhere we're gonna find that Thomas Jefferson had this amazing plan called Jeffersoncare that was gonna provide health care and health insurance for every American. You haven't heard about Jeffersoncare? Oh, look it up, Google Jeffersoncare, and then find out all the tax increases Thomas Jefferson came up with, particularly the mileage on your horse and buggy. Oh, yeah. It's all there. And then you'll read about the Barbary wars were fought because Jefferson would not go along. The European powers just wanted to pay tribute, pay the pirates in Tripoli, Libya, just pay 'em, keep 'em off our back. Jefferson said, no way.

"Millions for defense, not one cent for tribute," was the slogan of the day in Jefferson's day.
...
RUSH: By the way, did you know what it was that ultimately caused Jefferson to wage war against radical Islam and the Barbary pirates? Do you know what it was? Jefferson and John Adams, as envoys of President Washington, went to the UK, and they visited Tripoli's -- which is now Libya -- Tripoli's ambassador to Britain. And his name was Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. Name doesn't matter. Jefferson, Adams go see Tripoli's ambassador to Britain. They were trying to stop the piracy. The ambassador gave them a lesson in Sharia law in explaining why the piracy was permitted. They're infidels. They either pay a tribute or we can legally take what they've got. And Jefferson wrote about this. "The ambassador answered us that [the right to piracy] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman (or Muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to paradise." So the Tripoli ambassador told Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, "You either pay us or we're gonna keep robbing you and killing you. It's in our Koran." And that's when Jefferson decided to go to war. And Peter Beinart writes at the Daily Beast today that Barack Hussein Obama is Jeffersonian.

The US really does have to learn from its past mistakes. It's time we stopped giving money to countries who don't show any appreciation.

Rush refuses to endorse anyone as nominee

He's talked about this before...if he endorses someone and then they turn out to have feet of clay, he's up the creek without a paddle.

But he does seem to be doing all he can to push Sarah Palin (on my own part, if she wants to be President she'd better get some seasoning as a Congressperson or Senator first. I want to see a voting record on a variety of issues before I'd trust her anywhere near the Oval Office.
RUSH: No, I don't know. Look, what do you want me to do? If there's nobody in the field that I am jazzed about, which is entirely possible, if there's nobody in the field, what I'm gonna have to do then is say, okay, this election had better be about Obama, and I think it ought to be anyway. This election should be all about Obama because, frankly, I would rather vote for Elmer Fudd than Obama. I would vote for whoever the Republicans nominate.
