Let This Be a Lesson To You - Always Correct Your Questioner

Have you ever been talking to someone and they ask you a question, and misuse a word, as for example iodide instead of iodine. Do you correct them on it, or do you just let it go and answer what they meant to say?

Rush is ripping Surgeon General Regina Benjamin a new one because she did not correct a reporter who said "iodide" instead of "iodine". (Hell, perhpas she heard "iodine").

Here's what Benjamin said.
RUSH: Here's the audio sound bite, San Mateo, California, yesterday. NBC Bay Area correspondent Damian Trujillo interviewing the Surgeon General Regina Benjamin during a discussion about nuclear preparedness and the reports of people buying iodide. The question was asked of the Surgeon General: "Is this appropriate?"

BENJAMIN: It's definitely appropriate. We have to be prepared. We've learned from anything, in my experience in Katrina, we need to be as prepared as we can. The more you're prepared, ummm, the better you can be, the more lives we save, the less disability.

RUSH: Right. So buy more iodide.

On the other hand, it does seem kind of foolish for people in the US to be buying iodine. The radiation from Japan is not going to get here, and we arent' going to be having a 9.0 earthquake anytime soon, with accompanying tsunami. (Go to Amazon, health and wellness, bestsellers, and various forms of iodine are leading the list!)
