An ultra Liberal, Richard Cohen, condemns Obama

I share many, many paragraphs.
Richard Cohen, the Washington Post today: "The President Who Doesn’t Care" is the headline. (paraphrasing) "The crowds adored Obama, but not as much as he adored himself."

Richard Cohen, in this piece as you read it, realizes -- and he says as much -- that Obama is a small, politically driven president; that he's not at all what was constructed to be.  “History was draped over Obama like a cape. His bona fides in that sense were as unimpeachable as Bobby Kennedy’s. The crowd adored Obama, although not as much as I think he adored himself. Liberals were intolerant of anyone who had doubts.
“Obama was not a man, but a totem. A single critical column from me during the campaign triggered a fusillade of invective. The famous and esteemed told me off. I was the tool of right-wing haters, a dope of a dupe. Kennedy had huge causes. End poverty. End the war. He challenged a sitting president over Vietnam. It could have cost him his career. It did cost him his life.”
He’s talking about Robert Kennedy, now.
“The draft is long gone, and with it indignation about senseless wars. Poverty persists, but now it is mostly blamed on the poor.” Oh, speaking of that, I had this in the Stack yesterday and didn't get to it.  From the Weekly Standard: “New data compiled by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee shows that last year the United States spent over $60,000 to support welfare programs per each household that is in poverty.”
Now, we had this last week when it came out.  As usual, you're on the cutting edge if you're here first.  We mentioned this. The amount of money that we are spending on poverty per capita in this country is enough to wipe it out for one year.  Not forever, because the new year then starts and the people who are in poverty are not earning anything themselves.
But we're spending enough so that there should not be any poverty, and yet there is!  How is this explained?  “[T]he United States spent over $60,000 to support welfare programs per each household that is in poverty. The calculations are based on data from the Census, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Congressional Research Services.
“‘According to the Census’s American Community Survey, the number of households with incomes below the poverty line in 2011 was 16,807,795,’ the Senate Budget Committee notes. ‘If you divide total federal and state spending by the number of households with incomes below the poverty line, the average spending per household in poverty was $61,194 in 2011.’
“This dollar figure is almost three times the amount the average household on poverty lives on per year,” and yet we've still got poverty.  Welfare was meant to bring people below the poverty line to a better place, but it doesn't, obviously.  And welfare reform had the work requirement in it, and that was reducing the number of people on welfare, but Obama stripped the work requirements out.
He also stripped the work requirements out of the food stamp program, by the way.  That doesn't get a whole lot of discussion, but he did.  The real poverty in this country right now under Obama is the middle class. They’re not classified as poor, not getting a lot of help from the Fed, struggling to keep a roof over their heads.  One in six in this country are in poverty, despite what we're spending.  At some point, when are people gonna get clued in that the government can't solve these kinds of problems?

RUSH: I want to go back to this Richard Cohen piece in which Cohen says that Obama's a small politically driven guy, small politically driven president, that he never was what he was made out to be.  "The crowd adored Obama, although not as much as I think he adored himself."  Remember Jon Meacham and Evan Thomas of Newsweek, they were at Grant Park watching Obama on election night, 2008. (imitating Meacham and Thomas) "Boy, this guy's creepy. It's like he's above all of us.  He's up there, and he's watching us watch him.  It's really creepy."  And then they thought how weird is it, you win the election, and you send your wife and kids packing so that you're the only guy on the stage. You don't want your family there.  They're saying this, after recommending to all of us that we elect the guy, after helping create the mythology that was Obama.
And now Richard Cohen is coming along and he's simply upset because he doesn't think Obama cares.  By the way, if I might say so here, I think there are a lot of people -- well, I know there are; I hear from 'em -- there are a lot of Democrats, some of them prominent, who really think Obama doesn't want to win.  He's giving them that impression.  They really fear that Obama doesn't have it in him. He doesn't want to go through this. He doesn't think he should have to.  Elections are for plebes.  He agreed to have to do it one time.  He's not into it. He really doesn't care. They're really depressed about it, a lot of Democrats are.  I think they're a little all wet.  I think Obama craves being reelected.  I don't think he likes campaigning.  I think he does think all this is beneath him.  But I don't buy this notion he doesn't want it.

Romney's Collecting Stuff For Disaster Victms

and apparently the Red Cross is asking him to stop because people aren't giving to them.

I haven't bothered to look into this (just saw it on the Hannity message boards) but one hopes that Romney collects the stuff to give to the Red Cross.

And what's FEMA doing, I wonder.

Blame some deaths on storm, but others on sheer stupidity

I haven't paid much attention to the storm coverage coming out of the east coast.  All I know is I used to live in  York County, VA - very near the coast - and I'm glad I now live in Cheyenne, Wyoming (having moved here 2 years ago) , even if we do have never ending wind here (sometimes even up to 45 mph) - it's nothing like hurricane force winds (80 - 90 mph) of the coast.

But I read a few message boards where people are discussing it.

There's one guy, a 60 year old successful soundtrack producer, who lives in California, but has friends in New York. So last night we're getting all this terrible news about people dying, and buildings flooding, and this idiot says he doesn't believe it, the newscasters are making things up, because he's been talking to some of his friends in New York and they're having no problems.

Today someone patiently pointed out to him that his friends live above 42nd Street -  the ground rises as you move north. Battery and lower Manhattan was flooded, but the Upper West Side and areas above 42nd Street came through rather well. Riverside Park is a good 10-20 feet below West End Avenue at 82nd Street. All three rivers flooded - East, Harlem and Hudson, so Riverside Park is below water as well.

And they're also posting news about a couple who were killed by a falling tree while out walking their dog. Why in the world would you walk your dog in such weather. Stay inside and let the dog go where he wants! But lots of people have been killed by falling trees and I do have to ask myself...where were they going that they couldn't wait until the storm was over?

When I used to live in Minnesota, many years ago, we were always told to have winter survival packs in our cars - extra food, extra water, extra blankets, boots and so on. That way if you get stuck in a winter snow storm you'll be fine - if a bit uncomfortable - until help arrives. But every year during a snow storm, there were always people who would be driving in remote areas, slide off into ditches, have no food or warm clothing, and freeze to death trying to walk to a main road. Idiots!

This record producer that I mentioned above also pointed out - a couple of days ago before the storm hit - that he didn't believe that it was going to be as serious as everyone was saying, that the news was just over-dramatizing. Well, 30 people are dead now, Bruce- what say you now?  (Of course, he doesn't say anything. He is never in the wrong...)

I'm reminded of those poor earthquake scientists in Italy who were sent to prison for two years because they didn't correctly predict that an earthquake was going to destroy a certain town.  Even if they'd predicted, there was nothing anyone could do - it was an earthquake, for goodness sake! Do you think if they'd said, "Everyone evacuate now," that people would have gone? Of course not.

Although I do think the main reason people never like to evacuate is not because they don't think something is going to happen, but because they believe looters will come in and steal their treasures while they're gone - and you know the looters will. I have to admit, I do think looters should be shot on sight. They're scum.

Rush raising up a straw man just to shoot it down

President Obama - no president - has the power to change the date of an election. That's up to Congress. And surely Rush knows this.

But instead of blasting the media for asking Carney such a stupid question, he gets in a few digs at Obama, instead!

RUSH: So Jay Carney, White House press secretary, just got some questions from the Drive-By Media. The White House press corps was asking Jay Carney if Obama might postpone Election Day because of Hurricane Sandy. And Jay Carney had no comment. Question: "Jay, some of the utilities are saying that the power is going to be out in some areas for up to ten days. That would obviously include Election Day. Is there any contingency planning to alter the Election Day schedule because of this?"

Jay Carney said, "I think that is not something I'm able to address."

Question: "Would the president have the power to adjust Election Day?"

Mr. Carney: "I don't know the answer to that question. I think you're getting way ahead of yourself here." For the regime, the election can't come soon enough. They don't have any momentum in their direction. The longer they delay this, the worse it's gonna get. The question thus arises, can the president wave a magic wand and move the election? What do you think, Snerdley? Why not? He doesn't have the constitutional mandate. He didn't have the constitutional mandate for Obamacare, either. He didn't have the constitutional mandate to award amnesty to the kids of a million illegals, but he did it

. Now, the Constitution is very clear on when presidential elections are, and to change that, you would have to amend the Constitution, and there isn't time. That's not the question. The question is, would that stop a statist like Obama? Let me ask you this. I want you all to just see if you can, off the top of your head, at any time in American history has anything canceled an election? One time. And it was a local election, and it happened on September 11th, 2001, in New York City. Local New York City elections were suspended because of 9/11. Those elections were not federally Constitutionally mandated.

We had every election on schedule, on time in the Civil War, during World War I, during World War II. There hasn't been a time. But the question is, does that matter? If The One wants to change the election -- can you see him going on TV -- I mean, after all, look who's gonna be affected here. Every Obama voter in the Northeast is affected by this. These are blue states being impacted. These are Obama voters. Can you see him on television painfully talking about how precious the right to vote is and how Mother Nature has interceded, and it isn't fair that an act of God should keep people from voting? Can't you see him tugging at the heartstrings of every American on the basis of fairness and what's reasonable?

Kids know better than parents

Rush shared a video (unfortunately not on Youtube and I can't embed it) of a commercial made for Obama, with kids singing a song telling their parents what to do.

I am so sick of media that portrays kids as knowing more than their parents, and parents as amiable buffoons. Kids already think they know more than their parents, and parents already kowtow to the little brats more than they should.

Two guys run it: Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein. The advertising agency is Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. And they have just released a pro-Obama commercial that features children singing about a variety of horrors that will happen under a President Romney -- sick people will just die; oil fills the sea -- and it's about two minutes.

I want to play it for you in its entirety. It's been around throughout the weekend. The conservative blogosphere is near meltdown over it. The kids in this video, if you look at a picture of them, they're well fed. They're well dressed. They are well cared for. They've all got braces and glasses. No doubt they have excellent medical care. They're not kids from poverty. They’re not in any distress. At least the way they're presented here, the way they're dressed, they're just as normal as any other kid that you'd see anywhere.

They're nothing remarkable. They don't look like they're homeless. They don't look like they're downtrodden, don't look like they're starving, don't look like they're in any pain. They're smiling and all this stuff. But what somebody did here was put the far-left, extreme Democrat platform to music. And they've had these kids sing these lyrics: Coal mines are bad. The air is so bad. One more breath will make you sick and then you'll die due to bad health care.

Oil is floating on the oceans. There are toll roads and endless wars. The Chinese are making all our stuff. We have global warming, no place to play, no Big Bird. The tax code's all wrong, and it's all the fault of their mothers and fathers. You know, when you hear it, you have to ask yourself: Who in the world do they think this is going to persuade? And then when you hear it, folks, this is who they are. I always tell people, “If you could just learn to look at Democrats today as liberals and understand what that means ideologically, we woulda never have elected Barack Obama.”

If people understood liberalism, nobody would have fallen for the myth that was the caricature of Obama, that it was all lies. If people understood liberalism, everybody would have known that the next four years were gonna pan out exactly as they did, and that unemployment was gonna rise. The government was gonna get bigger; the private sector was gonna get smaller. Unemployment was gonna skyrocket. Poverty would increase and income would decrease. This why I said, “I hope he fails!” If people just understood who these people are, and they get their minds around it and accept it, we would have so many fewer problems than we've got.

So I want you to listen to this. This is not a parody. This is not a joke. This is who these people really are. This is what they are teaching their kids. This is what they want the kids of America to believe. This is the mainstream Democrat Party today...

CHORUS OF PRETEEN KIDS: (upbeat music) Imagine an America. Where strip mines are fun and free. Where gays can be fixed, and sick people just die, and oil fills the sea. We don’t have to pay for freeways! Our schools are good enough. Give us endless wars on foreign shores and lots of Chinese stuff. We’re the children of the future, American through and through. But something happened to our country. And we’re kinda blaming you. We haven’t killed all the polar bears, but it’s not for lack of trying. The Earth is cracked, Big Bird is sacked, and the atmosphere is frying. Congress went home early. They did their best we know. You can’t cut spending with elections pending, unless it’s welfare dough. We’re the children of the future, American through and through. But something happened to our country, and we’re kinda blaming you. Find a park that is still open; take a breath of poison air. They foreclosed your place to build a weapon in space, but you can write off your au pair. It’s a little awkward to tell you, but you left us holding the bag. When we look around. The place is all dumbed down. And the long term’s kind of a drag. We’re the children of the future, American through and through. But something happened to our country. And yeah, we’re blaming you. You did your best. You failed the test!

LITTLE GIRL: (dramatic music) Mom and Dad, We’re blaming you!

RUSH: And there you have it. And that is for real. That is produced by a Democrat ad agency, which has produced a number of ads for Democrat candidates and for Obama.

Mom and dad, we're blaming you. Well, where do you go then? Obviously government's the answer for everybody and everything. Mom and dad, you've almost killed the polar bears, you've got the oceans with oil on 'em, you've got the atmosphere frying, global warming, you heard it all. And this is who they are. (You wonder if kids will ever blame their mom for giving birth to them illegitimately instead of getting married and providing a decent life for them so they don't have to live on the government teat. That's when kids need to blame their mom...and if he can be found...their babydad.

The death of Sport

Well, San Francisco Giants won the World Serious, and 10,000 people celebrated, and 100 people decided to go on a riot and burn cars and destroy things. And seems like rather than stepping in and arresting all these folks and putting them in jail for about 10 years, the police just stood around and let them do their destruction.

It seems like every time a sports team wins a championship, we get these loons going out who lust for destruction. Do such people deserve to be amongst the general populace, or can we fly them all out to Madagascar for a few years. If they can't live like civilized human beings they don't deserve to be in civilization.

And how many cities dread Halloween? Not because of the death of the innocent past time of trick or treating caused by the loony tunes who hand out poisoned candy, but because of the excuse some people use it for. In Detroit, for example, it's called Devil's Night and there will be rioting and destruction just for the sake of it.

My own view - all rioters should be rounded up and put in prison for 10 years, or sent to some remote country until they beg to come back to civilization.

You don't know what's going on...so you do nothing

Again, I dont' know what to think about this. First off, if we'd gone in and helped our guys...would that have started a war with Libya? Who cares? They're in the Middle East, we're in North America.  We go in, get our guys, Libya declares war - what are they going to do? Recall all their citizens and politicians from our country? Let 'em!

CIA operators were denied three requests to go help those under assault in Benghazi.  "Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the US Consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by US officials -- who also told the CIA operators twice to 'stand down.'"

Not only were they denied permission to go in and help, they were told specifically not to.  They were told to "'stand down' rather than help the ambassador's team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11. Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were part of a small team who were at the CIA annex about a mile from the US Consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack.
"When they heard the shots fired, they radioed to inform their higher-ups to tell them what they were hearing. They were told to 'stand down,' according to sources familiar with the exchange. An hour later, they called again to headquarters and were again told to 'stand down.' Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the Consulate which at that point was on fire." They went anyway.  They defied the order to stand down.
Here first is Jennifer Griffin from Fox News just moments ago.
GRIFFIN:  Sources who are on the ground in Benghazi during the attack tell Fox News that in fact there were three separate requests to aid not only the attack that was occurring at the consulate and to try and help with that attack, but also requests for outside help, outside military help to help once there were gunfires [sic] and firefights at the CIA annex.  Those requests, we're told, came from higher headquarters.  They were told to stand down.

RUSH:  Again, Woods and Doherty and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate.  They went anyway to try to help.  Leon Panetta -- this is yesterday in Washington at the Pentagon -- the defense secretary in a Q&A, and the reporter said, "There was in fact, Mr. Secretary, a drone over the CIA annex, and there were intelligence officials fighting inside the annex.  I guess the big question is, with those two combined assets, why there wasn't a clear intelligence picture that would have given you what you needed to make some moves?  For instance, flying some F-16s over the area to disperse fighters or dropping more Special Forces in.  Why didn't you do anything?"
PANETTA:  We were prepared to respond to any contingency and certainly had forces in place to do that, but there's a basic principle here.  The basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on, without having some real-time information about what's taking place.  And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground -- or in that area, General Ham, General Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.
RUSH:  This is unbelievable, folks, because this is the secretary of defense last night.  We know the State Department was watching live video of this.  We know the CIA station chief, and we know that the State Department both had sent cables, e-mails, warnings to the White House Situation Room in the first two hours.  We learned yesterday that the White House knew what was going on at the moment it was happening.  We know that of the four Americans dead, two of them died in the last hours of what was a seven-hour assault.

Losing Your Virginity Commerical for Obama - disgusting!

I cannot believe the Obama campaign put out a piece of crap like this. Rush went off on it today and he was totally right. How can feminists support what's going on today - with women having babies out of wedlock not because they can afford to raise a kid on their own but because the government will give them our tax money to do it? (If a woman wants to have a kid without a husband - or life partner, whatever - that's her business - but not if my tax dollars have to pay to raise him or her! Then it's very much my business and I say, no.)
DUNHAM: Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful ... someone who really cares about and understands women. Think about how you want to spend those four years. In college age time, that’s 150 years. It’s super uncool to be out and about and someone says, "Did you vote?" and you, "No, I didn’t, I wasn’t ready." My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand. Before I was a girl. Now I was a woman. I went to the polling station and pulled back the curtain. I voted for Barack Obama.
Note that it's "you gotta be with the right guy" not "It's gotta be with the guy who you know loves you and isn't having sex with you because he knows you'll put out.) So very sad. By the way - losing your virginity doesn't turn you from a girl into a woman. Getting a job, moving into your own place and supporting yourself - that turns you from a girl into a woman!

Donald Trump's slippery slope

Yesterday, Trump released a video in which he offered to give $5 mill to a charity or charities of Obama's choice if he'd reveal his college records to his, Trump's satisfaction.

On the one hand I'd love to see Obama's college records. How did he get into college - on a scholarship as a foreign exchange student claiming Indonesian citizenship, or what. What were his grades, etc.

But of course now people are saying, if Soros offers to give $5 mil to charities of Romney's choice, will he reveal all his tax records? And frankly, I had no interest in Romney's tax records until I learned that he refuses to release all but the last 3 years, when anyone else who has done it releases ten  years or so. I am kind of curious as to what he's concealing.

I must say that our election system is out of whack. Think of the money these folks are spending to campaign. For the President, think of the time he's wasting. Jetting around practically every single day, leaves precious little time for him to keep up to speed on what's going on in the Middle East. I don't care how comfortable Air Force One is...if you're keyed up after making a speech at midnight your time in one location, and have a six hour flight time before getting to another location...that's less than 6 hours of sleep he'll be giving. I wonder if he's using 5 Hour Energy?

What should be de rigeur for political candidates?

Well...no mystery about their birth. All birth certificate info to be given up immediately.
All college transcripts to be given up immediately. (But do college transcripts really prove anything? How many scions of wealthy families get a free-grade-ride through college just like athletes do? Otherwise mom and dad won't pay for a new wing or renovate  the sports stadium or what have you...)

Candidates shouldn't travel the country at all. Stay at their homes and give speeches on a big screen. Think how much money that would save!

PRESS BRIEFING SCHEDULE
12:30 p.m. Daily Press Briefing with Spokesperson Victoria Nuland

The president is sure getting a lot done today...

9 pm Nevada time (midnight eastern, Washington DC time) he's making a campaign speech in Las Vegas.

Gets to Tampa at 6:50 am eastern time. I suppose he could grab 6 hours of sleep on Air Force One.

He delivers remarks at a campaign event in Tampa. Will be in Florida for a couple of  hours total.

Richmond, Virginia for about 3 hours to speak at a campaign event.

Flies to Chicago, IL specifically so he can vote!   Why not vote by absentee ballot so you don't have to waste time - and aviation fuel - and our tax money - making a stop there just to vote? By voting on an absentee ballot you can show how easy it is to do that if you've got the proper ID...

Then he goes to Cleveland to deliver remarks at a campaign event

And finally back to the White House at 11:05 pm

Operating on less than 6 hours of sleep, and I suppose cat naps throughout the day...no wonder he doesn't have time for security briefings and makes the occasional verbal gaffe here and there... (and yes, Romney is no stranger to verbal gaffes either... )

Would we be at war with Libya if Obama had acted?

Rush, Hannity and Glenn Beck have all been pounding on Obama because he knew - immediately - that the 7 hour assault on our embassy in Libya wasn't over some stupid video, but rather a terrorist attack, and he did nothing. (Did the LIbyan government at least send troops there to try to help, I wonder?)

Rush had this to say today:

RUSH: It could be very simple. Obama simply wasn't engaged when this was going on. He wasn't around. He didn't want to be engaged. He didn't want to be told. He didn't want to have to do anything, and therefore they were paralyzed. Nobody knew what to do because he didn't care.
But what I'm thinking is... the consulate or wherever the 4 murdered Americans were, was not US sovereign territory. (Embassies and consulates aren't, contrary to popular belief.) So if we'd dropped a Quick Action Team in there, and they'd killed all those terrorists - they could easily have been arrested by the LIbyan soldiers.

Or...how could they tell the difference between the terrorists and Libyan soldiers/police - assuming any were detailed to the Consulate to try to save American lives. So Obama may simply have thought it was better to let 4 men die, then to get involved in a war with Libya to rescue the men gone in to save those 4 men. (Obviously after that, we don't really need to go to war with Libya since they're on the other side of the world...) But there's no doubt there was a cover-up. And there's no doubt that by constantly pointing out that it was all due to the anti-Islam video, he just gave the loons who were protesting more energy to do so, and opened up the door for the loons who are approaching the UN demanding that "insulting Islam" be made illegal.

I'd like to see Islam put on trial, frankly. How many murders have been committed in the name of Allah, "the merciful and compassionate." Let's not forget that little Afghani girl, shot by the Taliban, who claimed their attempt to murder her was perfectly justified because she'd said bad things about them - in addition to trying to get girls to be allowed to get an education! Oh, horror!

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

I can't believe Obama didn't get impeached after saying thsee things!

From the debate:
RUSH: Here is Romney burying Obama on the apology tour...

ROMNEY: The president in his campaign some four years ago said he'd meet with all the world's worst actors in his first year. He'd sit down with Chavez and Kim Jong-il, with Castro and with president Ahmadinejad of Iran. I think they looked and thought, "Well, that's an unusual honor to receive from the president of the United States." And then the president began what I have called an apology tour, of going to various nations in the Middle East and criticizing America. I think they looked at that and saw weakness.

And the things Obama said!

OBAMA 04.03.09: In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America's shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

RUSH: Now, what the hell would you call that?

That's even worse than an apology!

This is the guy running around blaming our country to the Europeans, who wouldn't exist if it weren't for us. We have defended them. I call your attention to the cemeteries all over Europe again. They don't have to have defense budgets because of us, because of NATO. They're free to run their Western democracies, their socialism into the economic ground all they want. They're free to implode economically like they are because we have propped them up. The Marshall Plan!

This is in his third month. January, February... It's the third month of his presidency, April of 2009. (impression) "America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, and even derisive. And we have failed to appreciate Europe." He's just jealous of their train stations. He wishes we had train stations like they do. Every city has a mob getting on trains instead of driving cars. This is worse than an apology! Here's June 4th in Cairo. Cairo University, "Barack Hussein Obama! Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!"

OBAMA 06.04.09: Iraq was a war of choice that provoked strong differences in my country and around the world. 9/11 was an enormous trauma to our country. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases it led us to act contrary to our traditions and our ideals. We are taking concrete actions to change course. I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States, and I have ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed by early next year.

EGYPTIANS: (applauding)

RUSH: It was outrageous that he would say this. He's over at the seat of our enemies. Cairo, Egypt, is where Al-Qaeda was born! Well, Saudi Arabia for bin Laden, but Zawahiri and all these guys and the hijackers were Egyptian, many of them Saudi. What...? He goes over there and promises to close Gitmo. He accepts every talking point that we were guilty. We had no reason to go into Iraq.

Our previous cowboy president went in there as a matter of "choice" for whatever ill-gotten reasons. He says we acted "contrary to our traditions and our ideals" when we did not act contrary to our traditions and our ideals. We were acting in defense of US national interests! Romney was exactly right. He didn't hit him hard enough on this stuff. This was worse than an apology tour. This man went around the world and indicted this country, and he wasn't through.

We're still in Cairo on June 4th, 2009...

OBAMA 06.04.09: In the middle of the Cold War, the United States played a role in the overthrow of a democratically elected Iranian government. I understand those who protest that some countries have weapons that others do not. No single nation should pick and choose which nation holds nuclear weapons. And that's why I strongly reaffirmed America's commitment to seek a world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons.

EGYPTIANS: (applauding)

RUSH: Fat chance. Fat chance. Dream on! Naive little liberal. A world where no nation has nuclear weapons? Dream on. How are you gonna get 'em out of Pakistan? How you gonna get 'em out of the ChiComs' hands? How are you gonna get 'em out of the hands of Putin when you ask Putin to just be patient with you, that you can be a little bit more flexible after you win reelection? You'll get rid of ours while he holds onto his. This is worse than an apology tour. This is the president of the United States deriding his own country.

June 4th, still in Cairo...

OBAMA 06.04.09: There's been controversy about the promotion of democracy in recent years, and much of this controversy is connected to the war in Iraq. So let me be clear: No system of government can or should be imposed by one nation on any other.

RUSH: See, Romney was dead on right last night. Here he is once again. Democracy is not what we're about. Freedom is what we're about, and you do not "impose" freedom. You liberate people and give them freedom. You don't impose freedom on people. It's not possible, because freedom is not an imposition. So our president says (impression), "It's not for anybody else to determine who has nuclear weapons."

Right there, I tend to believe the media reports over the weekend that Obama has told the Iranians that he thinks they're within their rights to have nuclear weapons. That was a leak over the weekend. I tend to believe it because of what he said in Cairo. (impression) "No single nation should pick and choose which nation holds nuclear weapons." That means us! It means we're not a superpower. It means we don't have the right.

This was not an apology tour; it was a condemnation tour. By the way, didn't Obama just "impose" our democracy on Libya? Didn't he just "impose" our democracy on Egypt? Didn't he just impose...? He wants us to believe that he brought flowering democracy to the region! The Arab Spring is the outbreak of Obama-like democracy, right? Didn't he impose that? "No system of government can or should be imposed by one nation on any other."

You don't impose freedom!

Folks, I'm sorry. I'd forgotten how mad I was back in June of 2009 listening to this crap. I really had forgotten how mad I was. I'm reliving it all over again. And we knew this during his campaign. We knew who he was. And to have to read that AP story today asking, "Who is he?" After four years, we still don't know? If you don't know after four years, you're not looking.

If you don't know who this man is after four years, you don't care. This was a condemnation tour. We're not finished. Let's go to the June 2, 2009, Obama on the BBC News. North American editor Justin Webb was interviewing Obama. He said, "You're making the speech in Cairo. Amnesty International says there are thousands of political prisoners in Egypt. How do you address that issue?"

OBAMA 06.02.09: Democracy, rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, those are not simply principles of the West to be hoisted on these countries, but rather, what I believe to be universal principles that they can embrace and affirm as part of their national identity. The danger, I think, is when the United States or any country thinks that we can simply impose these values on another country with a different history and a different culture.
