Teachers Paid More Than Private Sector Folk

Here's Rush's opening paragraph on this topic:
RUSH: According to a new study from the Bureau of Labor statics, public school teachers are now the highest paid state workers. Public school teachers. In fact, public school teachers receive more than twice as much in average hourly wages and benefits as workers in private industry, on average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Public school teachers "are paid an average of $56.59 per hour in combined wages and benefits," which is twice the $28.24 an hour in wages and benefits paid to workers in the private sector.

I'm torn. On the one hand it seems outrageous that school teachers get paid so much money - when a large percentage of our students suck in every topic from math to geography.

On the other hand.... teachers have to deal with children. Not so bad up until the age of 13... but after that little monsters from the age of 14 to the day they graduate at age 18. Since teachers aren't allowed to discipline students anymore, goodness knows what hell they have to put up with throughout the school day. Do they not deserve "danger money?" Do parents who don't discipline their kids or teach them manners not deserve to be punished by having their taxes go to pay teachers good wages?
