Can the power of the "R" Word be defeated?

Rush was really ticked off today, having read an article that said that the Republican National Committee had sent out a memo to people telling them not to attack Obama.

Presumably because they think any attack on Obama will be met with a cry of racism!

And it probably will be.

Rush criticizes Obama in concrete ways - he gives examples of the ways Obama is screwing this country. IN the same way he criticized Clinton and any other Democratic politician you care to name. Yet if you read any reaction to what Limbaugh has to say, they say, "Oh, he's just saying it because he's a racist."

In his inaugural speech Eric Holder said that the US was a nation of cowards because they did not want to talk about race.... well, one reason the "majority" don't want to talk about race is because they know that if they criticize any minority for anything, they will be labeled Racist and can very likely lose their job because of it.

(On the other hand, minorities can go out and hunt down white folks and beat them up or kill them, and...oh no...nothing racist about that.) (I'm thinking of the Wilding in New York a few years ago, and last year during the various State Fairs around the country...)

Yes, we must talk about race in this country. Heck, we must talk about illegitimate births in this country! Blacks lead the pack but white girls, percentage-wise, are catching up. Can anyone deny that one reason for the increase of poverty in this country is because we have children having children.

There's a lot we should talk about...that our politicians should talk about...but they're afraid to because they could easily lose their jobs if they bring this stuff up. (For example, I think the president of Harvard was actually forced to resign because he dared to make a comment that there might not be a lot of women in the maths field not because barriers were placed in their way but because they might just not be good at math. Now, I don't agree and a lot of people didn't agree - but did he deserve to lose his job over that? He's not allowed to have an opinion? Instead of forcing him to resign, why not prove him wrong by parading a few female mathematicians in front of him who would run rings around him, math-wise? Then he could apologize and say yes, I was wrong. But no, instead there is no discussion. He's just forced out.)
Here's the headline: "On Private Call, Republicans Say Attacking Obama Personally is Too Dangerous -- A Yahoo News exclusive. Republicans on a private Republican National Committee conference call with allies warned today that party surrogates should refrain from personal attacks against President Obama because such a strategy is too hazardous for the GOP." Here we go again. This is another reason, folks, why I know you wake up alternately angry and feeling like you're a lone wolf and feeling like you're part of a distinct minority. Here we've got the absolute worst president in our lifetime and the Republican National Committee apparently has just had a conference call where they've told people, "Don't say that!" Obama IS his policies! They are inseparable! The man who influenced and molded him -- the man, Obama -- cannot be protected any longer!
