But what's the rest of the story?

A lot of Republican blogs are repeating the following quote from Obama:
President Obama believes that Republican leadership of the country would ruin the United States as a land of opportunity, but he's (justifiably) confident that his daughters will have plenty of opportunities, no matter what.

"Our kids are going to be fine," Obama told supporters at a campaign event last night. "And I always tell Malia and Sasha, look, you guys, I don't worry about you . . . they’re on a path that is going to be successful, even if the country as a whole is not successful. But that’s not our vision of America. I don't want an America where my kids are living behind walls and gates, and can’t feel a part of a country that is giving everybody a shot."

It is good to be the president.

You do have to wonder if he had a teleprompter handy when he said that.

I also wonder what the path is he's talking about. The kids are 13 and 8, I think...? Going to private schools, children of wealthy parents who can buy the best for them....

You do have to wonder how they will turn out, however. To be that young and to be under scrutiny 24-7. To read the criticism of their father...even if they just dismiss it as racism it's got to hurt -- can kids age 13 and 8 tell the difference between racism, and Republican opposition to Democrat ideals which Obama embodies?

(Rush has been criticizing Democrats for 20 years, he was relentless in criticizing Clinton, who is, you know, white. So why is it that his relentless criticism of Obama is racist? Well, because Obama is black... )
