Both Hannity and Rush refer to Ronald Reagan on occasion as Ronaldus Magnus, and I admit it does grate. They are always putting down decadent Europe and touting American exceptionalism and the capitalistic way of life, and yet they're referring to Reagan in a monarchist sort of way! And it sounds silly, too!
There's no explanation on Wikipedia of how it came about, but according to some other sites, it was Rush Limbaugh who started the trend of referring to him in this way. But, to me, it just sounds pretentious.
edited - I see now that Limbaugh wrote a tribute to Reagan on his death called Thank You, Ronaldus Magnus.
