Florida Overview: Nov 2, 2010 Senate Elections

U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) resigned from this seat on September 9, 2009. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Republican George LeMieux to fill the seat for the remainder of Martinez's term. LeMieux decided that he would not seek re-election.

Former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Marco Rubio is won the Republican nomination on August 24, 2010, defeating incumbet Republic governor Charlie Crist (who is now running as an independent).

Kendrick Meek won the Democratic nomination on the twenty-fourth of August.

Bernie DeCastro is the Constitution Party nominee.

Alexander Snitker is the Libertarian Party nominee.

In 2008, Barack Obama received 50.91 percent of the vote in Florida while John McCain received 48.10 percent, a 2.81-percent margin of victory for the Democrat.

[When I pulled up the websites for both these candidates, each one opened up with a sophisticated request for a donation - something every politicians's website is doing at this time. I took a screencap of Kendrick Meek's page just to illustrate it, and on Rubio's moved on to his actual website page.
