Did Obama Ever Claim HealthCare would be free?

Today on his program, Rush repeated the story that after "Obamacare" was passed, people went to their local health care providers demanding health care and expecting it to be free.

And he's scoffing at the fact that Obama never said health care would be free.

But really, I don't recall Obama ever saying that - it was Rush saying that. "They think healthcare will be free, when really it won't be, the costs will be passed on to the middle class."

Because, why else would Rush be so upset because Obama's health care plan mandated that people buy insurance policies?

Frankly, I could never understand why people were upset by that. Why shouldn't people have to buy healthcare, then it would get rid of the freeloaders on the system. That is what Obama said. That if everyone had to buy insurance, there'd be no more freeloading on the system. And frankly, I thought that was a good idea.

Except I knew that the poor would be exempted from it, since they can't afford insurance now, and they can't afford it when Ombamacare goes into effect. So, as usual, them middle class will bear the brunt. That is, unfortunately, always the way.
