Criteria For the Nobel Peace Prize?

Rush's "Stack of Stuff" was light-hearted today, and one of the things he talked about was the fact that some folks on the Nobel committee are questioning the selection process.

And it must be admitted that giving Obama the Nobel Peace prize was the height of ludicrousness. Because they gave it to him before he'd done anything. He talked the game - getting us out of Iraq, but it took him two years to do it. And who wants to bet we'll have to go back in - sooner or later, when the current government descends into anarchy?

(But having said that, some of the blame must go to Bush. Anyone who paid attention to the Afghanistan war with Russia, or the hatred of the Muslims for the Jews for thousands of centuries... should have known that there would be no peace in Iraq regardless of how much good we did in that country.

They May Revoke Obama’s Nobel Prize
RUSH: There's a big story from the Nobel committee. They're very upset that the Nobel Peace Prize went to Obama. It's been totally distorted. This is blowback because I got screwed. This is blowback 'cause I didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize. A lot of people are upset about it.

"Nobel Peace Prize officials were facing a formal inquiry over accusations they have drifted away from the prize’s original selection criteria by choosing such winners as President Barack Obama, as the nomination deadline for the 2012 awards closed Wednesday. The investigation comes after persistent complaints by a Norwegian peace researcher that the original purpose of the prize was to diminish the role of military power in international relations."

So they're saying, "How can you give it to Obama?" Remember, they gave it to Obama on the come. They gave him the Peace Prize on the come. He wasn't even in office four months when they gave him the Peace Prize, or maybe it was later. Well, it was less than a year. And since then he's gotten us into two wars, he's killed Osama Bin Laden, he got rid of Moammar Khadafy, and he holds the Peace Prize! So they're a little embarrassed. I think this is just blowback 'cause I got robbed. People at the Nobel Committee understand how they blew it by not awarding the Peace Prize to me. (interruption) Well, I've done more for liberty than anybody else that was nominated -- and I'm a peaceful guy.
