And he'll have a lot to talk about.
I wonder if he'll talk about the small Church in Florida that plans to burn copies of the Koran as a publicity stunt.
They've got the right to do so. After all, people in the US have the right to burn our flag. And they have the right to burn Bibles. So they have the right to burn the Koran.
But what purpose will it serve?
If someone draws a cartoon of Mohammed - Mohammed and Allah must never be depicted in Islamic art - there is rioting in the streets and fatwas (death sentences) are issued against the cartoonist and anyone who publishes the cartoons.
If someone burns the Koran. Is this religion of peace going to stand by and not punish the people who did it - by issuing fatwas against them. I think not.
So, if this plan to burn the Koran is carried through to its fruition, I can foresee an eruption of violence in the Muslim world. Which will give the lie to this "religion of peace" business. (But then, really, you can say the same thing about Christianity, although as I continuously tell people, Christianity's barbaric period ended 200 or so years ago, the Muslim's barbarism continues (implementation of Sharia law and all that that implies) and is in no likelihood of stopping.
I myself don't see why the Koran should be burned. Burn pornography, yeah, that soils anyone who looks at it. But the Koran? The Koran is a book that, if people read it, they will learn all about Islam. And isn't that what we need to do? Learn about our enemies so we can know what they're thinking and with that knowedge, defeat them?
I've said it several times in this blog, and I'll say it again. I'm an atheist, but I'm very grateful to be living in a Christian country, because I'm a woman. If I lived in some Islamist-dominated society, life would be unbearable, for I'd have no freedom, and would live in perpetual fear all the time.
No, give me the Christian US any day of the week.
