It was really depressing listening to Rush today, for a variety of reasons. First of course was the brouhaha over the Mosque at Ground Zero, and the reaction of the "Muslim world" should one tiny church in one tiny town in Florida burn Korans - they'll want to see America destroyed. So much for a religion of peace.
Then there was the case of the Imam who wants to build the Mosque at Ground Zero saying he never expected a furor and wouldn't have wanted to build the mosque there if he'd known, but now, it's too late, if he moves the mosque the "muslim world" will think it's under attack, and give impetus to radical Islam. And Rush, and I, am like, Jesus. It's just blackmail. There's over 100 mosques in New York City, as Rush and everyone else against this mosque keeps saying.
Then there was the article Rush shared yesterday about the US Army burning bibles in Iraq or Afghanistan last year, to make sure soldiers didn't try to convert Muslims to Christianity. Why? Well, because it's a crime in Afghanistan to leave the Muslim religion - you get executed if you try to leave that religion of peace...
Now I've just read - Rush didn't mention it, but I've just come across it - the trial about the death of Rachel Corrie 7 years ago in Gaza. She was part of the American "human shields" who were trying to stop Israeli bulldozers from destroying Palestinian homes, and was crushed by one of those bulldozers. Now, 7 years later, they're finally getting a trial.
Incompetence. Incompetence everywhere.
Several US states are almost bankrupt. The US itself is almost bankrupt - if China calls in our debt, we are in big trouble... the US is no longer the economic engine of the world, half our population will never amount to anything and be a burden on the taxpayers forever, and there's nothing we can do to stop it...
Yes...I'm depressed.
TO the point of this title.
When Obama was running for office, if you were a Democrat, you believed in the guy. He was cleancut, articulate, not a Spcok look-alike but a Tuvok look-alike, a logical Vulcan who knew what was best and could fix things... and what has he turned into, really? Even given the opposition of Republicans to his policies, what has he turned into?
Little transparency - how long has it been since he's given a press conference?
Travels incessantly and yet tells Americans they need to reduce their carbon footprint
Takes vacation after vacation while Americans try to save their homes
Blames Bush for things a year after Bush has been long gone...and things haven't gotten any better with his policies, so his policies are also failures...
Who can save the United States? Bring it back to its former glory? Who?
