Everyone Rushes to Judgement

A guy named James Holmes murdered 14 people at an Aurora, Colorado theater, and injured apparently 50 more.

Apparently someone at MSNBC checked the records of the Tea Party in Aurora, found out there was a James Holmes listed on their membership roles, and reported this. Reporter Brian Ross said something along the lines of, "We don't know if it's the same guy, but we just thought you should know that someone named James Holmes is a tea partier."

And, of course, the Tea Party James Holmes is not the same as the murdering scum bag James Holmes, so Brian Ross has now issued an apology.

I heard this on Hannity, to whom I listened briefly tonight.

And of course what MSNBC did was beyond the pale. But Hannity took it further than that, saying that this is what Liberals always do - rush to judgement and try to politicize everything and smear Republicans and Conservatives. And he said this as if Conservatives and Republicans had never reacted in exactly the same way.

I mean, come on. If this murderer had had an Islamic name, whom among us would not have nodded our heads knowingly. Or if it had been a black guy killing folks in a movie theater in an all-white neighborhood. Or if the white guy had killed people in an all-black church, instead of in a theater that had apparently blacks and whites in it.
