Why is unemployment so high among minorities?

When Eric Holder took office as Attorney General, he said:
Holder gave a speech on race relations on February 18, 2009, in the midst of Black History Month, in which he called the United States "a nation of cowards" on racial issues. "Though race-related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we average Americans simply do not talk enough with each other about race."

Some people agreed, some people disagreed, Obama rebuked him.

But we are afraid to talk about racial issues. Well...everyone except Rush and a few other talk show hosts. Why? Because if we say something that irritates a minority, all he/she has to say is, "That's racist," and all of a sudden we're out of a job.

Take Michael Roberts, who made his unfunny jokes about lynching when being heckled ata night club. Has he worked since? We've yet to see if that black guy from 30 Rock loses his job over his homophobic comments (in which he actually said that "if my son were gay, I'd shoot him". But since he's a minority, I think his apology will be good enough.

But the point is - statistics show that blacks and Hispanics drop out of school at a much higher rate than whites. And if you drop out of school, that means you don't have a very good education. (A small percentage of people don't need to go to school past a certain grade, admittedly, they are very smart and they can make a good living without a degree.) But for the most part, a high school education doesn't get you a very good job, and if you don't even have that, how are you going to get a good job?

If you can't read or write, can't do math, and don't know manners (though that admittedly is more a home thing than a school thing, and most young people these days don't have any idea what manners are) how are you going to get a job?

We need to discuss the victim mentality that makes a vast percentage of blacks and Hispanics refuse to take their free education and learn what they need to know so they can get good jobs. Up until the late 1960s, you have to give them a pass. The 1970s - give 'em a pass, it was a transition period in Civil Rights. But in the 1980s through to today, with all the role models out there, with all the opportunities, there is nothing stopping minorities from getting good educations and good jobs except themselves - or their peers.
Story #5: Bachmann: Obama Has Failed Blacks, Hispanics

RUSH: UK Daily Mail: "Obama Has Failed Blacks, Says Bachmann as African-American Unemployment Hits 16%." The jobless rate for African-Americans is the same as it was during the depression in 2029. Hispanic unemployment has now risen to 12%. Here's the story: "Barack Obama has failed black Americans as unemployment soars to depression-era levels, a Republican presidential hopeful has claimed. Michele Bachmann said that unemployment among the black community has rocketed to 16 per cent during Obama's term.

Shockingly, the African-American unemployment levels are the same as the depression era in 129 and up from 12.7 per cent when Obama was inaugurated in January 2009." And there is no way, there is no way that any black leader can argue with this. Unemployment, African-American, is 16% -- and the Hispanics are not happy. Obama blew off a Hispanic group the other day. He was supposed to show up and speak to a Hispanic group and he didn't show up, and they got a little ticked off. They weren't happy out there.
