Rush actually says Obama is right!

A caller tried to tell Rush today that Obama had said - in his latest commencement speech -that there were no manufacturing jobs left in the US.

Rush said he was wrong - and played the clip from Obama.
OBAMA: We live in a new world now. Used to be that you didn't have to an education. If you were willing to work hard you could go to a factory somewhere and get a job. Those times are past. Believe it or not, when you go out there looking for a job, you're not just competing against people in Nashville or Atlanta; you're competing against young people in Beijing and Mumbai. That's some tough competition. Those kids are hungry. They're working hard. And you'll need to be prepared for it.

Which is entirely true.

And yet in the US, are education system sucks. Typically the teachers are being blamed for it... but frankly I think it's the students fault. Or more appropriately, their parent. (Can't use the term "parents" anymore, as a two-parent household is becoming a rarity. Which also explains why are education is declining.)

Half of the folks in Detroit can't read and will never get a job that pays decent money. THat's not the fault of the education system, that's the fault of the welfare system that encourages folks to have babies and forget about working because the government - i.e., the 50 percent who can read and do work - will support them.
