More Liberties Going Away to "Protect the Children"

First, here's the story from Rush:
Story #10: Boston Bill: Get a Room While Getting Divorce

RUSH: This from Boston: A new law on Beacon Hill would ban parents from engaging in sexual relationships in their homes while they're getting a divorce. "Supporters say the bill is meant to prevent domestic violence and shield children while the divorce is underway. Critics say it takes away parents rights. In addition to the divorce bill, local lawmakers will also consider a bill this week to reform the state's alimony laws. The bill would end lifetime alimony payments in most cases and cap how much one spouse is ordered to pay the other. The state's current law does not contain any duration limits for alimony." But the big part of the bill, no sex at home while you're getting a divorce. (interruption) With each other. With each other. With anybody. No sex in the home. You gotta get a room. Gotta get a room. Gotta get a room. And if this is Indiana and you're having sex, the cops can walk in on you and there's not a thing you can say about it.

Edited.

I had read the sory too fast. Obviously, it's not two divorcing adults having sex together that's illegal, it's one of the two having sex with someone else, which, if the other spouse is vicious and controlling, might result in that spouse coming along with a baseball bat and attacking spouse and new sex partner.

My question is, just how do they intend to enforce that law, if it passes? Will there be bedroom police who check their rooms every night to make sure they are not having sex?

More importatly, how will the potentially psycho spouse know that their divorcing-spouse isn't having sex. Will he/she spy on the house and make a call to the police of unauthorized sexual activity?

Having said that, I agree that alimony laws need to be revised. In this day and age when women can get jobs, there is no reason in the world why her husband should have to pay her alimony for the rest of her life. (Of course there's always exceptions...if she didn't want kids but he forced her to have five or six, then he abandons her, obviously he should have to pay to bring those kids up.)

I'm reminded of the stories of William Shatner and Michael Caine. For Shatner, he was getting a divorce during Star Trek, and had to pay his wife based on his Star Trek income. But the show was over, he was no longer making that income, so his wife was living in their home with their three kids and he was sleeping in his car.

Michael Caine was divorced as a young man ...can't remember her name anymore but she was a successful actress, anyway he was a struggling actor, couldnt make his alimony payments, could barely keep himself alive. So he's in the court and his ex-wife walks in covered in jewels, and she wants him thrown in jail for non-payment of alimony. Which she obviously didn't need....
