I thought about this at the time, but didn't post it... so I'll post it now.
How in the world did Obama get Sarah Fluke's number to call her in the first place?
Well, she was apparently sitting in a chair in the Hardball studio when he called - maybe a producer from Hardball called up the president's PR guy, said he, we've got this woman here and this is her cell phone, why don't you give her a call.
And as Rush said in a later show - Fluke will be all right. Indeed, thanks to Rush she's probably going to get a book deal out of this... And since she's a law student...her first thought probably went to litigation, anyway.
A few advertisers - the only two I've heard mention of are some mattress company and ProFlowers - are thinking of removing their advertising... was that an idea all on their own or did some lawyer get in touch with them.
But it's interesting that Obama had the time and the inclination to call this woman. What I also want to know is... who else does he call? Did he call the families of the two men murdered in Iraq *after* he issued his apology that was supposed to "calm things down."
That's a serious question. I don't know if he did or he didn't. I'd like to know.
