The vacation flap never ends

Apparently President Obama and family are going to go to Martha's Vineyard for 10 days.

Republicans say he is wasting tax payer's money and with the economy the way it is he should not go on vacation.

Democrats are saying Republicans are hypocritical - George Bush supposedly spent 120 days out of every year either at his ranch in Texas or at Camp David.

What's the difference?

When Bush was president, the US hadn't just had its credit rating downgraded. When Bush was president, unemployment wasn't at 10%, with no prospect of getting better. When Bush was president, a whole lot of things were different than they are today.

But since Bush - at that time and in that place - took so many vacations (although of course always on call) apparently it's perfectly all right for Obama - in this time and in this place - with the country spiralling out of control - to take as many vacations as he wants (but always on call). And since he doesn't take as many as Bush did, well, it's perfectly okay.

Our country today can not have the business as usual of politicians wasting even a dime of our hard earned tax money.

Everyone needs to relax and rewind and take a break, sure. Let Obama spend 10 days on the golf links of Washington DC. He gets his time off, and we don't have to foot the bill for 10 days in the extremely expensive Martha's Vineyard.
