Two Inaccurate Obama Stories Making the Rounds

Although President Obama has been responsible for quite a few gaffes, and will doubtless be responsible for quite a few more. It is important not to excoriate him for things that did not start under his watch. So whenever a story of this nature surfaces, I never believe it off its own bat, I always research it. It saves a lot of embarrasssment.

Seizing so quickly on unsubstantiated stories like this also leads for embarrassment and weakening of the conservative cause.

1. As for example, the policy of not identifying Jerusalem as part of Israel.

A couple of photos are making the rounds of VP Biden and a Jewish diplomat taken in Jeruselem. Originally the photo was captioned: Jerusalem, Israel. Within a couple of days, it was just Jerusalem.

Conservatives are saying that this proves Obama is anti-Israel, but the practice of not listing Jerusalem as part of Israel began under President Bush.

2. I received an email today, from someone outraged that President Obama had directed the US Postal service to create a stamp showing Islamic symbols along with some Christmas type symbols. Such outrage in this post that Christmas decorations were framing Islamic - or probably Arabic - letters. No one appeared to notice that also on the stamp were the words Zazzle.com. Zazzle is a website that allows people to design their own stamps.

I looked on Snopes, this email has been around since 2009. There were two stamps commemmorating Islamic holidays, they were released two weeks before 9/11/2001.
