Rule #9: Beware of prefabricated answers

There is nothing wrong, per se, with "wise sayings." But their chief use seems to be to support decisions already arrived at.

Many wise sayings cancel each other out:

1. Look before you leap
He who hesitates is lost

2. You can't teach an old dog new tricks
It's never too late to learn

3. Out of sighht, out of mind
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
