The term "Straight Shooter" no longer politically correct

This billboard was in Tucson, Arizona....and now of course it has been removed, and there are yet more digs that Rush was responsible for the wacko who murdered men, women and children in an effort to get to one congresswoman.

Anyone who listens to Limbaugh knows that he does not advocate violence of any kind....he merely reports on it.

Will Limbaugh address ‘straight shooter’ billboard?
Will Rush Limbaugh address on Friday's radio show the controversial "straight shooter" ad that was yanked from a billboard this week in Tucson, Ariz., after Saturday's fatal shooting?

A photograph of the billboard, shown, circulated online Thursday morning after it was posted to Reddit. A New York-based blogger and copywriter said it had "been there for quite some time. I know, because my girlfriend's mother lives in Tucson."

Reports subsequently surfaced that the billboard had been taken down. The promo was created by a local Clear Channel station that syndicates Limbaugh's show. Representatives for Clear Channel and its subsidiary, Premiere Radio Networks, confirmed its removal this week.

Whether Limbaugh himself was aware of the ad or the decision to remove it is unclear. The Cutline sought comment from Limbaugh through his chief of staff, Kit Carson, but has yet to hear back.

Nor did we hear back from Rachel Nelson, a spokeswoman for Premiere, Limbaugh's syndicator, though she told Politico Thursday:

"This particular ad -- which uses the common expression 'straight shooter' to describe Mr. Limbaugh's candid and direct style -- was designed and contracted by the local station's promotion department. In the wake of the tragic events that have unfolded in Tucson, the station elected to take down this ad on Monday, January 10 -- believing that discussion of its interpretation would not contribute to the desire for healing in the Tucson community."

As for the local station that created the ad, NewsTalk 790 KNST-AM, The Cutline wondered whether it received complaints about the billboard after Saturday, when six people were killed and more than a dozen wounded, including Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

"I'd love to talk to you, but I'm on the air in about nine seconds," said a frazzled Paul Birmingham, the station's news director. He directed us to Tim Richards, NewsTalk 790's operations manager, who did not respond to a call and email for comment.

Limbaugh goes on the air at noon EST.
