Is his sole function to be around should something happen to the President?
In the last two weeks or so that I've been sharing the schedules of the President and VP here (and since they've been available at the White House's website) the VP has had "no public schedule" more often than not.
Surely the Vice President could be put on some committee, or be sent to visit places to campaign for Dems, or something?
It is not just Joe Biden, of course. I went to Amazon to buy a book about vice presidents, and found one book that was a serious one, giving bios of all the vps. But even that one had a dismissive line. "Most people think VPs don't do anything except stand in line for the Presidency, but..."
All the other books on the subject there were humorous ones, mocking the position of vice president throughout the decades.
And really, it does appear that it deserves to be mocked.
