As expected, Rush's apology accomplishes little

AOL and Resolution Tax Services have stopped sponsoring Rush's program, for a total of 9.

But as Rush stated in his program today, there are tons of businesses lining up to advertise on his program.

Rush apologized - but of course it's not enough.

Sarah Fluker is a law student...and I have no doubt that she is receiving book offers and offers of pro bono work to sue Rush even as we speak.

As most of my readers here know, I have taken Rush to task on many occasions - not only on this blog but emailing him (never with a response though!) - about his demeaning comments about women - referring to reporterettes, spokesbabes and so on. I know he's a male chauvanist and I deplore it.

But when he's right - he's right. On the social issues of "the producers" having to pay for the behavior of the "takers" - the welfare folks, and by that he and I don't mean those who are temporarily on welfare while they recover from an illness or a lost job, but the chronic welfare users - those who have been on welfare all their lives with kids from 6 different fathers, all of whom we the people are paying to bring up...

On Obama - and the Democrats - drive to turn the US into a second Venezuela - he's right on that, too.

As for calling Sarah Fluker a slut and a prostitute...you might think I would have been outraged about that. But I was listening to the program when Rush segued into that unfortunate side alley, and I know the context in which he was saying it. He wasn't saying that every man she had sex with paid her for it, he was just equating the use of contraception that someone else had to pay for as akin to prostitution.

Now the slut comment...that was out of line, but again, I think it came because Rush apparently has no idea how birth control works, and apparently thought that the cost of birth control goes up each time two people copulate. That's not the case (unless they're using condoms.) But this girl is undoubtedly on the pill or something, which costs $300 a month for a single shot, and lasts for a month before she gets another shot.

Of course she'd better be using condoms to to prevent against STDs....
