The opinions of 984 people are not representative of America

When you read any poll that tells you "Americans think this... " and "Americans think that".... always scroll down to the very bottom of the page, where you are usually told exactly how many people participated in the poll. It is rarely over 1,000 people.

I don't know about you but I don't think 1,000 people are representative of a city, let alone a state, let alone the entire country, and it has alway annoyed me that when news agencies report these polls, it is always framed in such a way that the vast majority of Americans feel this way.
