First Illegal Immigrants, Now Defense of Marriage Act

As has been news in the past, the federal government isn't all that interested in forcing our immigration laws, and illegal immigrants are allowed to live freely in our cities. Occasionally you hear of someone being deported (and yes, sometimes you hear of someone being deported who doesn't deserve to be deported, but those are isolated incidents, and those victims shouldn't blame the heartless bureaucrats but rather the illegals for what happens to them.)

Now, of course it's the Defense of Marriage Act. Limbaugh says that it's illegal for Obama to tell Eric Holder that the federal goverment isn't going to defend this anymore - it's in the constitution and therefore must be defended until judges rules that it should come out of the constitution.

In one way, both of these cases are similar. The government is abrogating its duties. In another way, they are not. Illegal aliens are illegal aliens, there is no getting around it. But gays who want to profess their love and get married? "Defense of Marriage" seems to be rather an ironic term when you consider that more than 50% of all straight marriages end in divorce.

There's so much hate in the world. If two gays want to commit to each other - let them. And if the divorce rate for gays eventually also comes out to be over 50%, well, just goes to show people are alike all over.
