How Can You Prevent an Overthrow Except By Violence?

The American news coverage of the various government overthrows in the Middle East have been interesting - invariably the sitting government is depicted as despotic, the revolutionaries trying to overthrow the government as victims - cruelly murdered by government troops as they just peacefully try to evict one president and replace him with... who?

Rush raised the point a few weeks ago - if a few thousand people march on the White House today and tell Obama to leave office - would he go? Or would he stay?

If a government is going to stay in power, its people must respect the rule of law. If people rebel - plant bombs, throw rocks, how can you squelch them except by violence?

Yes..it's a tough question.   The US fought England to replace one brand of government with another, then they fought the Civil War to keep the country intact when one portion of it wanted to break away.

In the Middle East, what are they fighting for? Wanting to replace a secular government that gave rights to women with a religious one that will lock women inside their houses? That's what the Muslim Brotherhood wants, and that's what it's getting, with the help of the United States and Nato.

*I* have a great idea! Mexico is a hotbed of corruption ansd crime. Let's us - the US - move in and take over. Under martial law, we can clean up the border towns, arrest all the drug dealers, and execute them for their crimes against humanity. (I'd say cutting up people, hanging bodies from bridges etc. are crimes against humanity). That way, problem solved. Quickly and easily. Once the drug lords are out of the way, the Mexican people can invest in their own towns and cities and build up their own country.
