Not a day goes by that some family member doesn't forward to me a couple of emails, that they got forwarded from someone else.
Usually it's innocuous - some cute photographs of pets, a joke of some kind, etc. but sometimes there's something more.
The latest thing was a month or so ago, someone sent an email saying that Obama was trying to get the holy month of Ramadan put on a stamp or something. (Okay, I forget the exact details.) Nevertheless, there was a lot of outrage and I was outraged too...while at the same time I did a Google search to find out the truth of the matter.
Most of this stuff you can research yourself, at http://snopes.com. (Snopes covers all kinds of urban legends, does fact checks, etc.)
Turns out, the email had been making the rounds for ten years, and the stamp was part of a set of holiday stamps and featured Jewish and Christian religious symbols as well.
The point I'm trying to make is that if you are forwarded an email containing news of some kind of outrageous stunt that some politician is doing (Obama - or some other Democrat, more rarely a Republican) - do some research before you believe it, because nine times out of ten it's a bogus message.
