Who is to blame for the destruction of the US Economy

Rush lays all the blame on Obama and his two-and-a-half years in office. That's a wee bit simplistic. Bush must come in for his share of blame. (And the Dems under Bush, who prevented him from getting more oversight on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, of course).

What Obama has done has of course not made it any better... has not slowed the decline...but there are so many factors at work here... For example, the debt ceiling has been raised 9 times already...why is everyone holding such a hard line now, on the 10th time?

Would things be so bad if the debt limit were raised one more time, but then we got well below it as the spending cuts go into effect? As for the rich, I doubt if they'll hurt that much. I would like to know exactly how much of a percentage tax increase on them we're talking about.

Of course what we need to do is get that 50% of the US citizenry who don't pay any taxes, to start paying their fair share! Maybe tax the kids that any person on welfare has - not when they're off welfare, but if they're on welfare and keep having kids, penalize them for it, don't reward them for it. Make the impetus to get off welfare so they can give a good life to their kids, not get on it so they can give them a poor life!

Here's what Boehner had to say about Obama, quoted by Rush:
RUSH: "Boehner: Dealing With the White House 'Has Been Like Dealing With Jell-O' -- In a meeting with a small group of reporters in his Capitol Hill office this morning [he] criticized President Obama and White House officials for their lack of resolve in negotiations. 'Dealing with them the last couple months has been like dealing with Jell-o,' Boehner said. 'Some days it's firmer than others. Sometimes it's like they've left it out over night.' Boehner explained that talks broke down over the weekend because, he said, the president backed off entitlement reforms so much from Friday to Saturday, 'It was Jell-o; it was damn near liquid.'" We can't count on what the guy says. What he says doesn't have any lifespan to it. He'll say something and then the next time we talk it's like he never said.
