The Debt Ceiling Raise Debate Continues

Rush spent most of his time today talking about the debt ceiling debacle, and there's nothing new there except it looks like the Republicans are going to give in and agree to raise taxes.

It's too bad. What Obama should have done was *not* raise taxes, but agree to spending cuts. Then, if things hadn't gotten better, he could point to the Republicans and say, "See, they didn't want me to raise taxes."

So now it will probably go the other way, taxes will be raised, spending will be cut (but on what, I wonder), and when the country doesn't get any better...well I guess then the Republicans can say, "See - this is what happens when you raise taxes during a recession!)

And I do wish Rush would stop bringing up Ramadan. He has mentioned that in every show for the last couple of weeks, and its pointless. Ramadan has nothing to do with Obama or anything.
From TheHill.com: "Key Dems: Gang of Six Plan Won't Be Ready for Debt-Limit Deal by Aug. 2 -- Key Senate Democrats on Tuesday said the Gang of Six’s $3.7 trillion deficit-reduction proposal could not be included in a package to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by Aug. 2. Senate Democratic whip Dick Durbin (Ill.), a member of the Gang of Six, said Tuesday the group’s plan is not ready to be attached to legislation to increase the debt limit."

Why can't it be included, one wonders? They've got ten whole days...get it done!
