Clyburn, who is black, says Newt wants white kids to see black kids as "servants."
CLYBURN: People who are poor are not suffering from any kind of a work ethic. I grew up pretty poor, but I got up at four o'clock in the mornings and delivered milk on a milk truck before going to school at 8:30, and I don't need Newt Gingrich to tell me what it is to have a work ethic. What he is talking about is stratifying people. He's saying that the poor children in their schools ought to be the janitors in their schools so that the other people in the schools, who aren't so poor, can see them, uh, as their servants.
Clyburn got up at 4 am to deliver milk on a mil truck before going to school at 8:30.
And look where he's at.
How many black kids today are going to get up at 4 am to go to work, before going to school. I'd say very few. (But then, few white kids would do it, too. But most white kids don't need to, whereas most black kids, to get out of poverty, do.)
Of course today, most black kids can't get jobs because they don't have photo IDs which are a pre-requisite for getting a job. So the Dems, by insisting that blacks and Latinos shouldn't have to produce photo IDs to vote, are actually telling blacks - you don't need to get a job. Just sit back and rake in the welfare and vote Democrat, and we'll take care of you.
That's the only reason I can think of why Dems don't want blacks to get IDs.
I was on this one website that I'd mentioned here before. I'd asked the question - why do a "disproportionate" number of blacks not have IDs. And all the responses from the folks there - Democrats all - were that the Republicans wanted to suppress the black vote. Not a one of them answered the question - why dont they just go out and get IDs?
It's the middle of January - election isn't until November. Let's say they can't afford the $10 to get an ID right now. So they give up coffee or a donut every day for a month...and then they've got their $10, plus enough bus fare left over to go to the government building that issues State Ids.
Let's say it takes them two months to save up that money, or three months.
By May, they'd have enough money to pay for their state-issued photo ID.
That still gives them 5 months before the election - at which they would then be allowed to vote with no hassles.
And if they have a state-issued photo ID.... then they'll be able to get a job! So it's a win-win situation!
