Black community's new derogatory term for half-whites

Many months ago, in some town the name of which I forget, a priest refused to marry an interracial couple. It wasn't because he was racist - so he said - but because the children of such couples face such discrimination and teasing.

And that's true, you know. And it's not white kids teasing half-white/half-black kids. It comes from the black community as well, and what they call these kids used to be Oreo - black on the outside but white on the inside.

Now, apparently, the new term will be Zebra.

RUSH: Here's Chris Rock. He's on the Today show this morning. The co-host is Ann Curry. He's got a new movie out, Madagascar 3. Ann Curry said, "If you could be any animal in the animal kingdom, Chris, what would it be?"

ROCK: I'll take the zebra. You know, in honor of our zebra president. You know?

ROCK: Black and white, white and black. That sounded like the Jeffersons, right?

ROCK: I sounded like George. I love you our President but, you know, he's black and white.

ROCK: He appeals to all, and that's what I'm goin' for. You know, we ignore the President's whiteness but it's there.

ROCK: It's there.

RUSH: What does that mean? What does it mean when you "ignore the President's whiteness"? See how these people think? You see how these people think? What are you "ignoring," Rock, when you ignore the whiteness? See, I think Obama's black and white but he's red all over. "Zebra." But what is...? What are you ignoring? What are you not seeing when you realize he's a little white, Chris? What's that tell you? He's not happy about it.
