Social Engineering and Cigarette Smoking

I tried a few packs of cigarettes when I was young...but gave it up because I knew then - 1975, that it wasn't healthy for you. (And since I knew that then, anyone who has been smoking since 1975 has no right to be suing anybody!)

I have to admit I've been tempted to take up smoking again, just because I don't like the government forcing me to do something I don't want to do.

Rush makes the comment in his monologue that smoking is legal...even though it kills (and actually I don't believe that. Unless you're in a casino where you live in cigarette smoke for 8 hours at a time) and I'm reminded of Obama's comments on coal-fire plants. They are legal too, but Obama is going to make sure that anyone who tries to start one will be bankrupt.

It's the same thing with cigarette smoking, and Rush really shouldn't joke about it. And after the smoking, they'll go after the drinkers. And then, they'll go after the drug takers, eh? Saving that for last makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
RUSH: This is from the AP: "Think the occasional cigarette won't hurt? Even a bit of social smoking -- or inhaling someone else's secondhand smoke -- could be enough to block your arteries and trigger a heart attack, says the newest surgeon general's report on the killer the nation just can't kick." May I ask again: Why is tobacco legal? This story says one cigarette can kill you. Honest! It's right here. Surgeon General: One cigarette can kill you. These are the same people that control our health care, they want to determine which procedures we can and can't receive. "Lung cancer is what people usually fear from smoking, and yes, that can take years to strike.

"But Thursday's report says there's no doubt that tobacco smoke begins poisoning immediately -- as more than 7,000 chemicals in each puff rapidly spread through the body to cause cellular damage in nearly every organ." There's no doubt. There's no doubt, just like there's no doubt that man-made global warming is gonna kill us all. There's no doubt, right? Just because the government says it, just because the Surgeon General says it, there's no doubt. The Surgeon General is Regina Benjamin. She said, "That one puff on that cigarette could be the one that causes your heart attack."

Well, folks, this is now serious. This is more serious than ever. One puff, one cigarette can kill you? And yet the product remains legal and yet is sold without taxes in Indian casinos.
