Ozzie Guillen likes ...or one might say admires ... Fidel Castro and said so.
Oh, horrors!
Cuban refugees in Miami were outraged.
So Guillen had to apologize to them.
But of course, the apology wasn't enough.
MLB Baseball has suspended him 5 games.
Why? Why?
He expressed his admiration for a world leader.
Why should he be suspended for five games for that?
This is a slippery slope.
What happens when some Latino baseball player expresses his support for deporting illegals? Will he be fired? Will his house be firebombed? (Of course, no Latino or Hispanic celebrity would dare criticize illegals, no matter how they feel inside, because they know very well the PC community would come down on them like a ton of bricks.)
But what about someone in the public eye who expresses a liking for Rush Limbaugh and dares to say that his criticism of Donovan McNabb was warranted. Is that person to be summarily fired?
What about someone who praises Bush - if Obama is (god forbid) re-elected. Is anyone who comes on TV and praises Bush - and criticizes Obama - to be fired?
I mean - there are some unforgivable things one can say. Praising Hitler for killing Jews - that deserves a firing. Praising the Arabs or other black Africans in Africa for their genocide of killing black Africans - that deserves a firing.
But simply saying you like Fidel Castro, or Hugo Chavez.... people who liek Castro or Chavez might be stupid...but they don't deserve to lose their livlihood over it!
