Yet More Proof of Government Incompetence

Democrats don't have a monopoly on government incompetence, unfortunately, but the BP slush fund, as Rush calls it, is an example of Democrat incompetence at its worst.

It's probably not that BP hasn't paid out enough money as that the red tape involved in people getting their payments is too involved. (And yet...I bet there's still lots of fraud going on, too.)
Story #6: BP Claims Bureaucracy: Slush Fund for Big Gov't

RUSH: I've got a story here. It's the $20 billion BP fund to handle all these people that got soaked because of the oil spill. None of the money's been spent. Twenty billion-dollar fund barely tapped, CNN story: "The fund established to compensate Gulf Coast residents in the aftermath of last year's massive BP oil spill said Monday it has paid out $3.8 billion so far. The Gulf Coast Claims Facility, established last August with $20 billion in seed money from BP (BP), said that most of the money is unspent."

Now, this was a shakedown.

No question it was an Obama shakedown of BP. BP happily paid the shakedown money as a sort of a get out of jail free card to stop all the incessant nagging and negative PR and so forth. But obviously it didn't need to be $20 billion large if only $3.8 billion of it has been used. So maybe, folks, the disaster wasn't that bad. So what is the likelihood BP ends up giving Obama another slush fund? Another crisis not going to waste.

One other note on the $20 billion they demanded British Petroleum (or BP) set up to handle claims for damage in the oil spill? That $20 billion fund employs 3,200 people; they have 35 offices. They have 3,200 employees, and they have paid to $3.8 billion in claims so far. So, what is this but another slush fund for big government?
