"Shared Responsbility and Shared Prosperity" is the slogan for President Obama's current tour of various cities in America.
But one wonders, where is the responsibility of the poor? A woman on welfare with no education has another baby from a man whose name she doesn't even know... why should ressponsible people, with their tax dollars, have to pay for the irresponsibility of this woman?
A teenager in an inner school goes to class every day in order to talk to his friends and ogle the girls. He pays no attention to his lessons. HE can't speak grammatical English, he can't do math, he knows no manners. He won't be able to get a job. Who is responsible for keeping him alive in his idleness? The responsible teenagers who do go to school to learn, do expect that their goal in life is to get a good job?
Of course I pick on "inner schools" and 'inner cities." But there's plenty of upscale teenagers who also squander all their chances in life and of course, if anything they deserve more blame and contempt than inner school kids because they'be got it all and throw it all away.
But when it comes to the failure of our schools in producing hard working individuals who want to stand on their own two feet and earn their own livings...whose responsibility is it, really?
And then we come to shared prosperity. And there again, why should those who do produce have to give 10% or more of their income in taxes to shore up those who produce nothing? And worse - have no intention of producing anything?
