Mark Steyn filled in for Rush Limbaugh today, and will do so tomorrow as well.
I generally don't listen when guest hosts are on, although I do like Steyn.
Steyn had some interesting things to say today.
There were two stories he quoted talking about "smart" people.
One was that there's a new organization about the ethical treatment of animals, in which two college professors say that we should stop using terms like "sly as a fox" or "drunk as a skunk" or "fat as a pig" because they are demeaning to animals.
Then he had a story about some head of the College of Physicians who was giving a speech on an academic study that had been conducted about women and their reaction to sex. According to this study, women feel good after sex because of the chemicals within the semen of a male.
So, some woman academic was aghast at this, there was a backlash against this president because he'd dared to say that women got emotional benefits from unprotected sex, and he's had to resign because of it! How stupid is that! He was just reporting on the facts of the study -he wasn't making up this stuff.
Now, having said that, you do have to wonder why in the world physicians would do such a study. Don't we have important things to study, like how to end cancer, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, etc. And he does a study on why women feel good after unprotected sex?
But he shouldn't have to resign because of it, anymore than that Harvard president of a few years ago who said myabe there weren't more women in math because women just weren't good at math. He lost his job, too, for a simple innocuous statement. How silly. If you disagree with these statements, argue about it, present proof to the contrary, but don't take the man's job away because he dared express his opinion!
And I say this as a feminist who believes that the reason more women aren't good at math, and are busy having unprotected sex because they want the free ride that comes with illegitimate babies, is thanks to mass media that has brainwashed them for over 40 years to think that way, coupled with a governmetn that has programs that reward them for their behavior.
